Hillary Clinton unloads on Bernie SandersBy Jeff Zeleny and Dan Merica, CNN
Updated 2:33 PM ET, Thu January 21, 2016
<snip>
Indianola, Iowa (CNN)Hillary Clinton delivered a blistering assessment of Bernie Sanders' credentials here on Thursday and implored Iowa voters to scrutinize his policies and readiness for the White House, declaring, "Theory isn't enough. A President has to deliver in reality."
It was the most forceful and direct contrast Clinton has drawn with Sanders yet, a speech that underscored the increasing urgency and acrimony of the race. From health care to foreign policy, Clinton repeatedly referenced Sanders by name and questioned whether his ideas could ever become reality.
"I am not interested in ideas that sound good on paper but will never make it in the real world," Clinton said. "I care about making a real difference in your life and that gets to the choice you have to make in this caucus."
Clinton acknowledged that while she and Sanders "share many of the same goals" they have "different records and different ideas on how to drive progress."
The former secretary of state used a Teleprompter to deliver her remarks to hundreds of supporters on the campus of Simpson College. The speech, one adviser said, was designed to "shake some sense into Iowans" and escalate the experience argument she has been making against Sanders with limited success.
"Senator Sanders doesn't talk much about foreign policy, but when he does it raises concerns," Clinton said. "Sometimes it can sound like he really hasn't thought it through."
Clinton's campaign had multiple cameras here and plan to turn part of the speech into an ad, according to aides.

Anyone who supports Sanders, instead of Hillary's corporate kow towing, warmongering and impersonal, canned blatherings--apparently needs a good, stern lecture from Clinton.
God, she's so out of touch.

You can come here on DU and post your nonsense as well but what does it show..it shows that you sense that Hillary is desperate because you have to accuse and attack. I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care program. (applause) I see no reason why the United States of America, the wealthiest country in the history of the world, spending 14 percent of its Gross National Product on health care cannot provide basic health insurance to everybody. And thats what Jim is talking about when he says everybody in, nobody out. A single payer health care plan, a universal health care plan. And thats what Id like to see. But as all of you know, we may not get there immediately. Because first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.

My biggest problem is turning our backs on people who are dying without healthcare coverage - thousands per year.
Hillary is basically saying "you go ahead and keep on dying because there's no hope for you! As president, I'm going to bury you. I'm not going to save many of you." Because under Hillary's plan, she's not going to save all of the people who are dying without healthcare. She might save some of them. To me, that's unAmerican.
Bernie's idea is that his election is only one part of the political revolution he seeks. Unlike what we did with Obama, we have to follow through and take the House and Senate. Now, if you want to sit on your hands and say "I give up. That's too hard. Or that's impossible. Can't be done." Fine. If you don't try, then for sure, it can't be done. People are dying, so I have to try.
But if things like single payer are properly sold as :
- something that saves thousands of lives every year
- something that reduces the deficit
- something that helps bring jobs back because it reduces labor costs to business
etc, it has a much better chance. To date, it's been poorly sold ignoring the dying and the bigger picture.
Fighting gerrymandering, Citizen's united, etc. Is part of Bernie's revolution. I don't know how far we'll get while Bernie is in office. But at least we're heading in the right direction. Of course, we can pick up gains for the ACA along the way until the complete goal is achieved.
I thought the United States was supposed to be the greatest country in the world. All the other advanced nations got great, universal or single payer healthcare for their people. I do not buy the notion that the US cannot. But I guess the United States has become second rate because a bunch of it's folks cower in defeat when faced with a tough challenge for the good of so many of it's people who will die without it.
The heck with Hillary. She's going nowhere special. There's no guarantee with Bernie but at least we've got a chance.

http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2009/09/new-study-finds-45000-deaths-annually-linked-to-lack-of-health-coverage/
That's roughly (very roughly) 0.1% death rate. For 29,000,000, that's 29,000 dying in 2016. If Hillary gets in for 8 years, that's another 232,000 dead. 664,000 using that % died between 2001 and 2015. If we stay on this path, we're flirting with hitting 1,000,000 American dead near the end of 8 years of Hilary - all because they couldn't have healthcare.
That's a lot of people. Even if one wants to bicker over the death rate their study found and cut it in half, 500,000 Americans dead is a staggering number.
Our current pace is ten 9/11s per year because people like Hillary can't muster the will to take these jackasses on that allow these people to die on our watch.
It is a hideous disgrace!!! Bernie is right. Hillary is wrong. It needs to be stopped!

That is what such arrogance and feelings of superiority and self-importance do to a human being. I would say it is sad to watch, but it isn't. It is sickening.

As a result, it is now full-on Clinton attack mode. Not surprisingly, the DNC has somehow overcome the tremendous obstacles preventing more events in which the candidates are allowed to participate.
Expect some true cheapshots on Sen. Sanders at the town hall. Everytime you hear socialist you have to drink - communist you have to chug.

(3,919 posts)hillary. there is no "us" when supposed "leadership" refers to constituents as "them" and condescends by inferring they don't have the sense to make the right decisions and need to be told what is best for "them" by privileged and more "intelligent" people who are rich and white.
her statements just show us how much of a bigot she is deep down. it's all about class for her.
bernie addresses his audience and the voting american citizenry as "we" and "us" - not "them".

Do you think Hi11ary is attempting to reframe her "No We Can't" meme that's spreading like wildfire on the social media, by accusing Senator Sanders of living in a fantasy world?!?
She showed her true character when she snubbed Bernie's handshake after the last debate. Insulting Iowans provides yet another glimpse of her true character.
Also, I have not heard a single Hi11ary supporter explain her vote on Iraq. Wonder why?

And speaking to foreign policy, who's the one who wants new sanctions against Iran at a time when we have had a diplomatic break through and have the best relations with them than we've had in decades. Have you thought that through Hillary? No, I though not. Just saying what your hawk contractor buddies want to hear, eh?
