Washington Times. A right wing rag?

I generally read across the political spectrum. One paper I often view is the Wash. Times. In the early days i approached the paper from the point of view that it was probably a slightly right leaning serious newspaper presenting the news but with a right wing slant in it's opinions. Well, after reading the headline about Pres. Obama's UN speech i now see it as nothing more than a right wing rag.

The comments section looks like it's populated by folks who frequent the WND.

Obama garbles U.S. history in human trafficking speech

In making an impassioned plea for the international community to crack down on trafficking, Mr. Obama pointed out that his speech at the Clinton Global Initiative was taking place a few days after the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln issuing the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862.

“With the advance of Union forces, it brought a new day — that all persons held as slaves would henceforth be forever free,” Mr. Obama said.

Actually, the Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in 10 Southern states who were, at the time, mostly beyond the control of the federal government. And the document didn’t free an estimated 500,000 slaves in four slave-holding border states — Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland and Delaware — that were loyal to the Union. Slavery was ended in those states by various state and federal actions later on.

So Obama spoke for 30+ minutes at the UN in front of world leaders and this bit of pedantry is what they want to talk about.

For a long time it has been a source of wingnut insanity. Things are probably even crazier over there now that the Moon Man died.
