(27,247 posts)Being in Japan and all, you should know that her TPP is going to totally screw the small-time Japanese producers. Hell, it's so bad that Japanese politicians have to take bribes to shill for it.
betsuni
(29,078 posts)I don't care which one is the president or VP. O'Malley is fine, too. The first DU poll after Bernie announced, I chose Bernie as the president I'd like. Then things happened and I didn't want to be associated with Bernie supporters. "Her" TPP -- I don't know what that means. Does she have a personal TPP? By the way, Japanese politicians ALWAYS take bribes. Everyone does. Japanese businesses screws everyone. Americans think their "oligarchs" are so corrupt -- HA!
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)She went around to different countries telling their leaders how it would be the "gold standard" of trade agreements. She's on record doing that at least 45 times. But the people at the TPP rally I attended in Tokyo last May told a much different story. One of the people there was a Cabinet minister when Hillary was Secretary of State, and he said it was a terrible agreement when he was in office. There was also a current member of parliament there who also said it was awful.
And having seen what Hillary had done in Arkansas, that is, working as a corporate lawyer against the interests of ordinary Arkansans, getting campaign funding from the state's richest Republicans, introducing a prototype of "No Child Left Behind" in the state's education system that really pissed off a teacher I highly respected, doing little to serve the interests of Walmart's workers while she sat on its board...
And then there was her shilling for Bush's war in the Senate, and her hawkishness about Middle East wars in general, reminiscent of her mentor, Henry Kissinger...
And she really does not like to mingle with "common folk".
Number23
(24,544 posts)the poster child for the kind of idiotic, pointless behavior this article is talking about. Like they say, a hit dog will holler.
I noted that Coates and Walsh just this week felt compelled to type responses to the abuse they got from some Sanders supporters. They join a very long line of people who have had to deal with this.

AFAIK, all the supposedly "bad behavior" has been on the internet. And it's not as though people online can't lie about who they are or whom they are supporting (or working for)/

(46,585 posts)Characterizations of "slamming" public figures are more often than not straightforward expressions of difference of opinion not anywhere in the ballpark of inappropriate or nasty. They simply dare to disagree and some just are not having that.

(31,935 posts)which are usually met with great hostility from the Hillary crowd. "SO YOU WOULD RATHER VOTE FOR TRUMP!!!!???" is almost alway the response to "I disagree with her on Fracking, Monsanto, for-profit prisons, Walmart's policies, Wall Street regulation, banking regulation, support for arms manufacturers, and her hawkish desire for more conflict in the Mideast." They don't want to discuss the issues, so it's a nonstop game of "attack the messenger" *again* (we saw the same in 2008). All that projection does lead to a lot of "Bernie supporters are SO MEAN" gripes. Been there, done that!

What sucks is I've tried to quell this shit but I've gotten a hide for it here, and then get mocked myself. And some of the nastiest* people I've ever met on the internet are Sanders supporters and it shows.

(62,536 posts)I know that at least one poster here got a letter in the mail with such vile shit, too. I really feel for DU's black posters. It sucks. And there's nothing you can do about it as a Sanders supporter because they're in denial and they mock you and cut you down over it. The site that will remain unnamed openly calls Clinton a "bitch." Fuck that noise. I wouldn't want to be associated with such vile people if my life depended on it.
Skidmore
(37,364 posts)people away from him. I was one who stopped considering him because of the overwhelming nastiness of his supporters. Who a candidate attracts and what is tolerated by the candidate is important. I don't trust Sanders because his tolerance of bad behavior and abusive treatment of people by his supporters make his written words of tolerance and inclusion ring hollow. I recall a candidate Obama very publically instructing campaign volunteers and supporters on what was interable from them. The excuse I have seen about overly enthusiastic twenty somethings does not fly either.
The bottom line for me is that behavior and words need to have consistency. Otherwise, I have no reason to believe Sanders really is on my side. His followers do him harm.

(85,151 posts)And it's not isolated. Sanders supporters rage is directed at anyone including reporters, union members, trusted elected officials, or anyone that doesn't see the infallibility of Bernie. I think this behavior is the biggest obstacle for those thinking about joining Sanders campaign. But the people doing it don't care about that. They want to make sure not a single negative word is spoken or expressed by the apostates.

(80,708 posts)And as such, couldn't debate their way out of a paper bag, who have decided they're entitled to bloviate (and attack) profusely on the internets themselves, but never have to actually encounter any dissenting opinions.
So they reflexively open the "I'm being picked on!" Spigot.
Too many people confuse being called on their nonsense, or having people disagree with whatever self-validating axiomatic gibberish they're peddling, with "abuse". Which is unfortunate, because like I said, real abuse and bullying is out there, but it sure as shit isnt limited to any group or candidate.
What is actually going on here is, Sanders supporters are supposed to shut up .... just like sanders was never supposed to run in the first place. Certainly not to pose an actual challenge.
make no mistake, that is the great offense being committed here- winning.

But the notion that some keyboard warriors influence your political views in the opposite direction is either an admission of a lack of a solid foundation of beliefs that can be swayed by irrelevant nonsense...or its fantasy.
I will give you more credit, and say that it is fantasy.
