Sanders could still win this

There are 22 counties with votes that have not been reported.

11 of those counties Sanders is in the lead, thus far.
11 of those counties, Clinton is in the lead, thus far.

However, Polk County--the biggest county has 12 percent of the vote out. It was reported on our local news that the area still out is near the downtown area of Des Moines. This is very, very liberal, hipster land. Mostly young people. This area has seen an influx of very young people. Most of the population growth is due to apartments, condos and townhomes being built in the downtown area. The area that surrounds the downtown area is also very young people who live in older homes around the Des Moines area. Very artsy, liberal area.

The second biggest county with voters still out is Linn. They have 7 percent out. That county is 52 Bernie, 47 Clinton--thus far.

The third biggest county with voters out is Scott county. They have 3 percent of the vote out. That county is 50 Bernie; Clinton 49.

Most of the remaining counties are counties with very sparse populations. Rural areas. Even though, these counties have small percentages of the vote out, there are not as many votes in those areas.

Tue Feb 2, 2016, 01:35 AM
Feb 2016

They vote by paper slips.

And the problem that year, with the Republican vote totals was that a county hadn't reported their results. Some weird thing happened and some precinct captain forgot to count votes.

Democrats vote by show of hands. Those counts should be over. There should be no reason that people should be counting. After the count is over, you report your totals to the state precinct.

There is no explanation for these outstanding and unreported votes.

It's bizarre.

I am really mystified.

I don't get the delay. It doesn't make any sense. AT ALL.

At the caucus, people vote by show of hands. You go around the room and count. Then, you figure out--based on these counts--how many delegates each candidate gets.

Then, people give speeches and try to sway the OMalley supporters and the undecideds.

Then, a final vote count is taken. Final delegates are totaled.

We had 300 people at our caucus locations. A pretty big precinct. We had record turnout and we started late because we had so many new registered voters. We started 15 minutes late.

We were finished by 9:00 p.m.

This is really bizarre. I don't get what is taking so long. You can't tell me that these people are still counting by show of hands!!

I watched the Des Moines caucus and something changed pretty quickly at the end when O'Malley didn't have enough to stay in. Seemed the went over to Hillary, but I couldn't tell really. Suddenly she was ahead.

However, Bernie supporters asked for a recount because they were missing three people.

Suddenly there was a quick hand count 'do you want a recount or not'. And it was decided 'no recount'.

The Hillary woman became quickly negative, never acknowledger her concerns, began using the pronoun 'you' which always makes it personal. That was during the time when they were trying to get O'Malley and non-committed voters over to their side.

The young woman was right, Hillary's supporter was mischaracterizing Bernie's proposals.

31. I'm cynical (and I don't trust Hillary Clinton) so here is my guess
Tue Feb 2, 2016, 01:48 AM
Feb 2016

I think Bernie won.

I think the powers that be--including the Clinton and Sanders camps--know that Bernie won.

Clinton wasn't up for giving a concession speech. So, they're holding back results so she could give the speech she gave and then leave. She is spared the humiliation.

She seemed angry and very emotional during her speech. There was an dark undercurrent to her speech. Sanders seemed elated and celebratory.

You can't really cheat in Iowa. There's just no way. So many people are witnesses to those count. At least 15 people from each camp verifying those totals. These counts are in gymnasiums and elementary school lunch rooms with everything out in the open. Everyone sees the counts. All precinct captains verify the counting and results. They're announced to everyone in public. Many take pics of the results on their cell phones.

I don't think any cheating is happening. I think a Sanders win (which we will know about tomorrow) is being delayed at the pinnacle moment.

Yes, I know that's cynical. Yes, I know I have no proof. However, there is no way in hell that there are people still caucusing. No way.
