(19,326 posts)Votes from one precinct in Iowa were still missing Tuesday morning, and Democrats from that neighborhood scrambled to find party officials so that they could report their tally: Bernie Sanders won by 2 delegates over Hillary Clinton.
With Des Moines precinct No. 42's results, Clinton's excruciatingly close lead narrowed further, making the final tally for delegate equivalents in the Democratic Iowa caucuses:
Clinton: 699.57
Sanders: 697.77.
It quickly raised questions about whether Sanders had won the popular vote in Iowa. Sanders backers called for Iowa Democratic Party officials to release the raw vote totals.
Its important considering how close the race is. We need to be sure everyone has our accurate count, Jill Joseph, a rank-and-file Democratic voter who backed Sanders in at No. 42 Monday night, told The Des Moines Register.

(19,926 posts)that the coin toss "winner" is actually the loser according to the Iowa caucus rules. Don't have time to look it up though.

(15,139 posts)the flip of several coins is beyond unseemly. It's stupid and demonstrates a smugness that is a huge turnoff. If Hillary is the eventual nominee, she's going to need every Bernie voter and a sizeable chunk of independents. Her right leaning policy positions, coupled with the arrogance I'm seeing from her supporters, are going to be significant obstacles in getting the progressives she will need to the polls. I'd suggest buying stock in clothespin makers because many of us will be trudging off unhappily to the polls with clothespins firmly affixed to our noses to cast a vote not for Hillary but against whatever dirtbag the Repukes put up.
Then we will redouble our efforts to elect candidates who are not wholly owned subsidiaries of Wall Street. In the meantime, I'll join you in sending off another check to Bernie.

(13,305 posts)to leaving the Presidential ballot blank and focusing all my money, support, time, and energy on Senate and other downticket races. The stench gets worse and worse with each passing day, and it wasn't that great to begin with.
