(9,950 posts)Am I missing something?
merrily
(45,251 posts)I can't begin to address that.
Truthfully, a club I belong to (Pacific Gravity), had a meeting tonight, and I'm feeling a bit thick, if ya know what I mean..

(36,437 posts)They're an amazing bunch.
Betty Karlson
(7,231 posts)They cannot stand the constant scrutiny. They really thought that all criticism of Clinton was a right-wing fabrication. Now they are discovering that Clinton has actual imperfections, and that there is legitimate criticism from the party members to her left (which is a big chunk of voters, to say the least). What is more, they are seeing that Clinton represents something most of us consider untenable (the status quo) - and they don't know how to parry that issue.
Camp Weathervane doen't know which way to blow in a Sanderstorm. So all that is left to them is to accuse Sanders of fanning the storm Clinton is reaping. It's not like thirty years ago, the entire Third Way / DLC was enthousiastically sowing that wind...

(51,122 posts)I accidentally responded to a thread there, with a fairly innocuous post. Was banned in about a minute.
I've never mentioned it until now and I certainly never whined about it in a name calling OP.

You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din!

By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

(45,251 posts)accident or not. I want the hosts of the Bernie Group to keep that group a safe place.
The Bernie Group hosts used to warn people, but then the warnings created problems. So they decided to forego the warning.
chillfactor
(7,694 posts)I was banned by the Sanders group for asking a very innocent question....

"And who the hell are you to ask that Hillary supporters be banned from this thread? DU is an open forum...everyone has the right to respond! You should be ashamed of yourself!"

(12,629 posts)Support the candidate of your choice. When it comes down to it, this doesn't even register on the matter meter.
I've been kicked out of better places than this!

(12,629 posts)But, to be honest, my "bucket list" doesn't involve anything more exciting than seeing the Grand Canyon.
I hope I live long enough to see some real positive changes. Not just for us here, but for all.

(9,950 posts)There is some kind of naval academy there, got into a rather intense disagreement with the local cadets, my command was not pleased with me and a few of my shipmates.
Geeze, I'm getting old..

(2,282 posts)That a debate in Flint would be a terrible idea because of the added strain on water resources. I didn-t realize it was an HRC group until later, BTW. Still, I do not see how that would be considered ban-worthy.

(9,950 posts)Do you think cussing is a direct, or personal attack? Seriously?
lunamagica
(9,967 posts)from replies such as yours. You know that.
Those kinds of replies will get yo banned. You know that.
So why the shocked reaction? Why whine?

(9,950 posts)At that moment I did not know, nor care where the link originated, I just responded to it. If you want a safe haven for your opinions, I would suggest F.R.
lunamagica
(9,967 posts)And do you really believe that a Hillary supporter could go to the Sander group, post what you posted, and not get banned?
Honestly?
mythology
(9,527 posts)and calling Clinton supporters a name, I'm not sure you have any room to talk about somebody else being "victimized by a differing opinion."
Groups are designed to be protected. That applies just as much to the Sanders group as it does the Clinton group as it does the Feminist group. They are spaces for those groups to speak among themselves.
Skinner
(63,645 posts)Newsflash: People get blocked from both the Hillary group and the Bernie group. That's what's supposed to happen. They are protected spaces where people can support their candidates without having to get harassed by the supporters of other candidates.

(9,950 posts)And again, I have been here since the beginning. Hell, I was a bomb tosser in the Greens/Nadar memes, and did not get the granite cookie, or a hide.

BooScout
(10,410 posts)Since you're here and you see this thread. Why don't you lock it for Disruptive Meta? It would save a lot of arguing in the Host Forum I am sure. Just a thought.
denbot
(9,950 posts)Is pinboy3-niner at it again?
BooScout
(10,410 posts)They are charged with locking threads for Disruptive Meta:
Positive threads about Democratic Underground or its members are are permitted.
Threads complaining about Democratic Underground or its members; threads complaining about jury decisions, locked threads, suspensions, bannings, or the like; and threads intended to disrupt or negatively influence the normal workings of Democratic Underground and its community moderating system are not permitted.
denbot
(9,950 posts)But, do I assume your a Main Forums Host?
BooScout
(10,410 posts)You really should self delete your OP in this thread. It does not help the divisiveness here at DU.
denbot
(9,950 posts)Honestly, over time, I have seen this community get a little thin skinned. We are for the most part, the working, in the pits, behind the 8-ball, can't kill me if you tried, backbone of not just our own family's, but by extension, our country's middle class.
No one here (with the exception of CaliforniaPeggy) could possibly hurt my feelings, or make me feel apart from.. I'm tougher then that! I do not doubt for a minute you, and almost all of us are, as well.
I am confident, that after all this run-up to 2016, every one that believes in the principles and actions of Franklin D. Roosevelt, would argue with the messy, caterwauling process's end result, the selection of our party's Nominee.
While not pretty, this has almost always been the Democratic Presidential Nomination process.

saltpoint
(50,986 posts)the trigger over there at the Hillary group. Quite a touchy bunch.
Studies are being undertaken now to determine if the rate of Hillary's decline in support nationally is statistically correspondent with the rate and number of Sanders supporters banned from DU's Hillary group. I kid, of course. But it would be a fun study.
And if studies aren't any fun, dammit, what good are they?
FarPoint
(14,766 posts)You probably need to look at your tone and attitude regarding fellow DU'ers. Calling some here Hillarynista's for example... Poor taste.

(43,049 posts)The Hillary group has 476 banned members while Bernie "only" has 248. Why this is, I have no idea.
Myself, I blocked both, and GD-P, but every so often I get on juries so I still get a taste of all the fun in these groups. Or, if I'm in too good a mood, I pop in sometimes for a hit of paranoia or just plain nastiness.
Skinner
(63,645 posts)...is that there are a lot more Sanders supporters on DU than there are Hillary supporters. Ergo, a larger pool of people to get blocked out.
TreasonousBastard
(43,049 posts)the Barack Obama group has 143 people banned-- gotta wonder about that.
Some groups just love to use the ban hammer. One word can do it. Or one post misunderstood or read the wrong way.

(12,769 posts)Banned members:
476 Hillary Group vs 248 Bernie Group - look at that double - but wait:
Now, take into consideration that Hillary Supporters on DU are about 20%? and Bernie supporters are at least 80%.
Once you finish laughing, do the math and cry.
72DejaVu
(1,545 posts)that Bernie supporters are more prone to try to disrupt an opponent's space than Hillary's are, could it?
No, of course not. Every Bernie supporter is an absolute angel, as pure as the white of their messiah's hair.

(30,481 posts)I was blocked for posts outside of the group and in all honesty I get it. That was just the one post in the group that gave them the opportunity. It's a protected group and my username alone would have a couple of people in that group wondering what angle I was taking. I get that.
Some of my favorite posters are Sanders supporters. GD P is where the battle is. Lol. But I would have posted a handful of stories I have read, in the Sanders group, if I weren't banned. Stories that haven't been posted here that they would really enjoy reading. I respect groups here.
