2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAt the request of my girlfriend in response to Albright and Steinem: #betrayedbymyrolemodels
She asked me to create this thread after reading what Albright and Steinem had to say about young women today. Needless to say she's a little upset about those comments. She has looked up to both women for guidance and has felt genuinely betrayed by what she heard. Therefore, she wants to start a new hashtag on twitter. #betrayedbymyrolemodels
Spread the word.

(57,349 posts)I would expect that kind of sexism from Sarah Palin, hearing it from Gloria is disgusting.
Way to insult intelligent young women.

No backbone to make a post for herself.
That's ok, cuz Hillary is fighting for girls like her.
Some people disgust me.

(57,349 posts)Leave it to you to insult an intelligent young woman because she doesn't support Hillary.
So tell me again how it's the Bernie supporters that are bitter, hateful people?
Shame.

Another great example of Hillarian political cannibalism.

(10,056 posts)I "spout off" about Clinton because she is running a shitty campaign to be the President of our country.
You on the other hand, are attacking a young woman who is upset at being unfairly criticized by a Clinton surrogate.
If you can't see the difference then you are part of the problem.

(5,082 posts)Temptation doesn't know boundaries. Look at the Catholic Church. There is an epidemic of distrust in all our institutions. I'm surprised a lot of mainstream democrats haven't caught on yet or think their leader is immune.

(11,101 posts)Attempting to explain why younger women went for Sanders. Her conclusion was that they were being tricked by the media and didn't really understand the details of Sanders' proposals. Further, she postulated that these women are in what she called their "cute and little" phase and they just naturally follow men in that phase. I found it bizarre, although it is obviously the same school of thought from which the Steinem quote springs.
Not being young or female, I am looking from afar, but I can't see how this kind of rhetoric isn't insulting to young women.
