OBAMA WON ...

Last edited Thu Oct 4, 2012, 01:16 PM - Edit history (5)

OBAMA -- 1

Willard the Red Bull (y) -- O

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am proud to be a supporter of our President who was confident and poised, even when Right leaning moderator Lehrer did not fairly hold this debate, not only because he could not speak up and shut down aggressive Willie ... but the numerous times he let Rmoney speak before the President ... when it was obviously the Presidents turn to speak ....

You know all you naysayers about how the President handled this debate should try debating from an unfair position ... laid out by a right leaning moderator ...

So you say that this President who spoke truth and facts should have started attacking when Red Bull (y) Willie was spewing shit .... NO, NO, NO ... you know in your heart that would have been the wrong tactic ...

A Presidential debate is not an athletic event ...

Actually, if our President had been more confrontational, that would have played right into the Rights playbook ....

He handled himself perfectly, Thank you Mr. President .... and congrats on your 20th ... I gave another $100 to your campaign when you started the debate with your loving comments to Michelle, and calling her sweetie was adorable ...

When you naysayers revisit this debate you will hear and see what I am saying ....

ie: How long were the moderators eyes on each candidate and how long did he talk with Rmoney versus the President ....?

Yet, Romney ran away from all of the things that made him the tea party coalition's favorite of the Republican party!!

I don't know how the tea party people are going to work up enough nerve to vote for Romney after tonight when he said he wasn't going to give them all 20% tax breaks, across-the-board, like he has been promising for the last 16 months.

While some people may think Mitt won, wait till they hear how many whoppers he told. The "winning" will be overshadowed by the complete lack of truth. Not to mention that now Mitt is going to have to explain to the Tea Party why he's disowning Ryan's budget plan. I loved it when the President said "After 18 months of this grand plan, he says 'Never mind'." The best way to get someone's attention isn't to yell, it's to say it quietly.

Stephanie Cutter, deputy manager of the Obama campaign, said that Mitt Romney won on "preparation" and "style," but added that Mitt Romney got "testy" when he had to defend his own policies in an interview with CNN after the debate in Denver. Cutter said President Obama accomplished his goal of having a conversation with the American people.

Look at what you just witnessed,

The President of the United States: A cool, calm, collected, poised, secure, confident President .... Who is WINNING ...

The other parties nominee: A demanding, aggressive, confrontational, insecure hopped up nominee ..... Who is LOSING BIGTIME ...

Sure, I want to suggest to our President that he start pointing out all the obvious flaws of his opponent when the
" lamestream media" has been doing that for over 6 months ....

Yes, I hear you, you wanted our President to bash in the nominees head with the truth ..... but, CMON ... just admit it, this President just hit it out of the park ....

15. Obama brought details to an ideological fight
Thu Oct 4, 2012, 12:20 AM
Oct 2012

As much as I desire Obama to win, his performance in the debate was not great. You do not say, "If you vote for me," you say "when you vote for me". It is a basic principle of the art of political communication. That slip reveals a general sense of Obama being on the defensive and reactive in a manner rather brought people into the boring domain of political nuance. He needed to stand for the principle of federal governance with an aggressive reminder of what happens when states are indulged in the form of discrimination and the corruption resulting when the divide and conquer strategy of the corporate interests force a bidding war between the states seeking to compromise ether citizens for the benefits of the monied. He needed to be more ideological in the sense of putting Romney on notice that the idea of states rights was determined in the Civil War. It is no more every state for itself than it is every man for themselves. To pursue that ideology results in the hopeless contest of the individual against powerful corporatist who show little concern for the betterment of the society is that progress is perceived as threatening a percentage of their profits. Unless he debates the ideological issues, he will be perceived as an affable wonk but will fail to connect emotionally with the public in terms that they can understand and on issues for which they feel passion.

Of course to do an ideological debate you have to first hold a firm position reflecting a set of core principles, and arguing for a strategy of compromise conveys the impression of a lack of solid principles. People want clarity and an understanding that the person in charge can reliably argue for a set of principles that they hold as a common perspective from which to determine policies. The debate is won on the principles not on the details of policy, and Romney, much as it pains me to say, came across like a man committed to his principles and able to convey those principles with conviction. It matters little that the principles are wrong or analytically incoherent, if they are not challenged at the level of an alternate set of principles illustrating both competing ideas and an alternative vision that articulates the perspective of the nation united in the progressive cause and the workers interests as superior to the vision of corporate privilege. Money can not be the determinant of rights and to challenge Romney on such basic principles would have him both defensive and stuck in a hopeless effort to justify his incoherent political philosophy. To accomplish this, Obama has to believe in the principles of a progressive democratic agenda, and that belief was not convincingly presented in this debate.

By far Obama is the better man for the job, but being the better man does not necessarily translate into voters' support. For that, he needs to be the better candidate and the better debater.

Only on political blogs and in lamestream media does aggressive tactics work ...

Out in real world, this President did exactly the right posturing, pleading, cajoling, and explaining .... to the undecideds and the kitchen table Americans who still eat there .... he was perfect ...

Our President only had himself to beat .... and he did not beat himself ....

by falling into a right wing brooohhhaahhhaaa .... saying this President was aggressive and confrontational and rude ....
