Among Democrats, Hillary's favorable rating sink as Bernie's rise

Heading into Tuesday's New Hampshire primary voting, the biggest shift we are monitoring in Americans' big-picture look at the candidates comes among Democrats. Bernie Sanders' image is becoming more positive to Democrats across the country by the day, even as Hillary Clinton's sinks.

I'll get to the data in a moment, but the question in front of us is: Why are Democrats now looking at Clinton more negatively and Sanders more positively?

Sanders' more positive image began to be evident before what was interpreted as a strong showing in the Iowa caucuses, so that is not the major cause. The main answer must lie with what Democrats are hearing and seeing about the two in the news media (social or traditional), including the continuing focus on Clinton's emails while she was secretary of state, and Sanders' and Clinton's debate performances.

<snip>

In the most recent three-week period, Clinton and Sanders have switched places. Interviewing ending Jan. 13 showed Clinton with a +57 net favorable rating among Democrats, and Sanders with a +47. Now, interviewing ending Feb. 6 shows Sanders with +57 and Clinton with +47.

Yelling/getting angry, negative/dirty politicking and baggage, baggage, baggage.

She "feels"dishonest, non-trustworthy and not authentic.

Oh and then there is her undying support for big money, big power, Wall Street/Banksters/billionaires and the 0.05%.

She is not the candidate for true Democrats, Progressives, Liberals nor Independants.

hasn't taken Hillary's Bait. She's provided the provocation. He hasn't bitten. She even attacked her own Democratic Party in the Senate the other day. He still hasn't bitten. He's running as we want him to run. The person running isn't important more than the person running listens. He becomes the people the people become him. Hillary it's all her. Going to hell or not.

He is much more likable but I think a good part of it comes from the fact that he has been finally getting some decent amount of press. People have the chance to compare them and she loses in that comparison, had he received as much as she did at the beginning it would have happened much sooner.

Things are starting to shift because the press can no longer ignore him. He is no longer suffering from lack of name recognition. People are now inspired to learn more about who this Bernie guy is that everyone seems to be so excited about.

Regarding the OP. I don't think Hillary's e-mails are really affecting her much. Not many people are too concerned about that, as she isn't the first to use private e-mail. It's just not a big deal, unless you are republican.

Specifics: Clinton's favorable/unfavorable readings are now 71%/24%, while Sanders' are 67%/10%.

Key #1: Sanders has much less baggage among Democrats, 10% negative vs. 24% negative for Clinton.

Key #2: Sanders still has lower name ID, with 77% able to rate him, compared with a nearly universal 95% of Democrats who have an opinion about Clinton.

Key #3: At one point last summer, only 45% of Democrats knew enough about Sanders to have an opinion.

Key #4: If we factor out name ID, Sanders comes in with an 87%/13% positive-to-negative ratio, compared with Clinton's 75%/25%.

I always fear making predictions, but my gut has been telling my brain that Bernie's numbers are only going to rise.

Americans expect and respect fair play. Wall Street and the ve y wealthy as well as those who support the trade agreements that have resulted in stagnant wages, a bad job market and economic problems at the household level are perceived as not playing fair.

In my opinion, Biden would not, in this respect be liked much more than Hillary.

Biden was too involved in the passage of the 2005 bankrutcy reform bjll.

The mortgage crisis had been set upp with passage of several acts during the Clinton administration.

The trap for millions of families had been ser. Like clockkwork, GW Bush promised the ownership society and home ownership.

Housing prices rose as adjustable motgages that buyers did not understand became the way to buy a house way beyond the wages for many Americans.

In 2008, theset-up ready, the trip was switched. You coul say that the blade fell on the financial guillotine.

A likeable personality does not explain the popularity of Sanders .

It's about fairness this time.

That is true for voters in both parties, but especially true for Democrats.

Biden is part of the Obama administration. Deemocrats really like Obama but are wary of a lot of his appointees who are perceived as being proponents of a system that has not played fair.

Today I read a story about union pensions being reduced.

Pension benefits are part of a pay package. It is as though retirees who were union members are having dollars removed now, robbed now, from paychecks they earned years ago.

May not be the fault of Obama and Biden but there will be a lot of angry pensioners out there if what I read is true, and the Obama administration will either do something to enforce the pension contracts or face a lot of criticism.

Biden will not win Bernie's voters. He is part of the system we ate voting to change.

it's counterintuitive to like someone you don't trust, -which is what it boils down to for me personally. Although I concede there are the exceptions to that rule too, but when it comes to elected office for me. um not so much. .

The more that people are exposed to him, they see that he is not only very likable, but he is the only presidential candidate that understands the fundamental paradigm shift that is needed in our political system, and that he is the only one with the fortitude & conviction to fight for this change.
