It's almost impossible to campaign down here without running headlong into that divide. That "divide" rests clearly on the shoulders of a mind-numbing conservative population. Here, in Alabama, Obama received 8% of the Caucasian vote -- 8% in one of the poorest regions of our nation. So, in Alabama, you have 1/2 the population voting against their own interest based on race. It's sooooo frustrating. I wanted to find a T-shirt that read "proud member of the 8%," but no luck.

Although, I hate the tone some of these threads are taking regarding the African American vote, I'm happy to see our candidates forced to deal with the issue of race head on. Black Votes Matter.
