Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC), the most powerful African-American in Congress, recalls a 2am phone call he received from Bill Clinton after Barack Obama defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2008 South Carolina primary.

Clyburn stayed neutral in the primary, however Bill Clinton didn't think so.

"If you bastards want a fight, you damn well will get one," Clinton said according to Clyburn.

"He was very upset," Clyburn recalled. "His wife had just suffered a major defeat in the South Carolina primary, and I had not been involved in it, but Bill Clinton thought otherwise."

"We met by accident several weeks later… we've seen each other several times since. In fact, I had a lovely breakfast with Hillary two to three years after that. I think everything's okay," Clyburn told ABC News' Jeff Zeleny in an interview aired on Yahoo!

Fri Feb 12, 2016, 05:15 PM

the fact that he is getting pressure BEFORE the SC primary - makes me think the internals for the Clinton camp just aren't as great as they thought they would be.

I don't think this is going to make much of a difference when I think most people already thought he had endorsed her.

There are still many younger African American SC state reps out supporting Sanders and they are already doing town halls and other meetings, some with Ben Jealous.

Personally, I found this part of the article very disturbing:

Former President Bill Clinton was accused of dismissing Obama’s win because he was black, saying another black presidential candidate, the Rev. Jesse Jackson won the S.C. primaries in 1984 and 1988.

Clyburn said in his 2014 memoir that Bill Clinton called him on the night of the 2008 primary and blamed him for his wife’s loss, quoting the former president as saying, “If you bastards want a fight, you damn well will get one.”

Regarding the incident eight years ago, Clyburn has said he had no hard feelings toward the Clintons.

Click on their names in these stories. There are only TWO who could be IDed as Bernie supporters. The rest are just random assholes on Twitter.

"...Clyburn said his wife and daughter had been telling him that the state's Democrats "want to hear from me." One of his younger brothers urged him, "You've got to take a stand."...

You are calling him a liar and implying Obama has made a deal with him?

44. Interesting that the same CBCPAC won't endorse activist Donna Edwards
Fri Feb 12, 2016, 07:03 PM

basically because some African American politicians in Maryland are supporting establishment candidate Chris Van Hollen.

I thought the idea of this PAC was to support getting African Americans elected - but not in this case!

48. Are you equating a progressive black Democrat like Donna Edwards with Ben Carson or Carly
Fri Feb 12, 2016, 07:11 PM
Feb 2016

No I don't expect anyone to vote with their vagina. I expect the Progressive Black Caucus to vote with their head for a black progressive even if she is going against a white middle-of-the-road establishment candidate in a primary.

But hey - whatever floats your boat.

82. I No Longer Care About Endorsements By TPTB...
Fri Feb 12, 2016, 09:34 PM
Feb 2016

I care about truth and integrity. I'm FED UP and sick to death of this OMG so and so endorsed. Search your soul and ask the question... who has what to gain if they're the nominee? Who do you think cares more? Who is the one who hasn't sold out? Who is the one who's asking nothing more than our support? Who is the one asking for adoration AND the one feels they're entitled? Who is the one who is taking all the money? Who is the one covering too many people's ASSES?

Then ask yourself, why would ONE MAN take on Goliath and put himself through this kind of hell just because he wants POWER! Bernie Sanders isn't running because he feels entitled, he's doing it because he believes ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and the time has come ask "we the people" to fight for OUR COUNTRY!

There's no glory in being vilified and in knowing you've walked into a shit storm. The ask yourself IF YOU had the cohones to even DARE to try!!

How many here are really and truly happy with MORE OF THE SAME? Why would a man subject himself to such animosity if he didn't feel it's THE time for SOMEBODY to WAKE THE F--K UP! You want to keep the fat cats happy? You want to have endless wars? You want to try to get help from our Congress Critters who only serve up platitudes? How many of them have helped us??

Please tell me the last time ONE of them gave YOU the time of the day!

Go ahead, vote for more GREEDY BASTARDS! I won't!

When watching this interview, I see a man that is about to side with the younger generation and ROCK the establishment.

"Taking a stand", does not match up with backing Clinton in 2016.
