2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMan on the sidewalk... handing out bumper stickers
I came out of the co-op grocery tonight and there was a lone man with a Bernie button standing there handing out a stack of Bernie bumper stickers he had bought.
He engaged people in conversation about the March 1st caucus. Not one of the people knew how to caucus or what to do. I joined him and we taught people... one-by-one. People were grateful. They wanted Bernie, yet their wish would mean nothing unless it was turned into action.
Many more people will be caucusing March 1st because of one self-motivated man. I was inspired and will do this at my library tomorrow.
I invite each person that reads this to teach 5-people how to caucus or/primary and spread democracy.
For me, my vote is Bernie
Go Bernie!

Thanks so much for what you and that equally civic-minded guy did!

(12,754 posts)That kind of bullshit story?
Or Hillary being named in honor of Sir Edmund Hillary, who didn't climb Everest until years after she was born?
That kind of bullshit story?
Or Hillary not being influenced by the millions and millions of dollars showered on her by the Corporatists?
That kind of bullshit story?

(10,493 posts)I have a friend that moved to a caucus state last year, and is trying to figure this all out for the first time. Good on you for jumping in to help inform more. I'm sure they'll take that information back and share with others too.

(12,218 posts)The revolution is ours.
I went to visit Fort Bragg CA last week, in the middle of the town on main street was a Bernie office with american flag all kinds of signs, inside a whole mini store with tshirts for only $5 buttons, bumper stckers, yard signs.
What was different about that? The entire place was donated and run by volunteers, not any paid people from campaign at all. Shirts said mendocino Bernie folks.
How were tshirts so cheap? Lady said people donated almost all of the cost.

(22,308 posts)The rest of the year we can be Clinton supporters or Bernie supporters, or even Democrats and Republicans.
But on election day we are voters and non-voters.
That is really the divide that matters.

(2,760 posts)take a like-minded friend with you to vote. If each voter locked in five votes along with theirs, we would all benefit.

It is indeed one of the most inspirational stories I have heard today. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to read this here.

(3,048 posts)I live in FL and we don't do that here. We do have a closed primary though. I was a life long independent, my wife a republican and one of my co-workers also a life long indy. We all re-registered as Democrats so we can all vote for Bernie in the primary. I know it's only 3 damn votes, but that's 3 more than there would have been. Thanks for your story and what you did.
