Related: About this forumHillary Clinton Is Spending Today FUNDRAISING From BANKERS Capitalizing On The Housing Crisis

Hillary Clinton, as we all know, is raising a ton of money from wealthy campaign contributors on Wall Street and elsewhere in the financial services industry. Among her list of supporters is the Blackstone Group, a company which expanded their bottom lines at the time of the TARP banker bailouts, doing so by quickly buying up all the foreclosed homes only to turn around rent them right back to the peasants who were evicted.
So, guess where Hillary is spending part of the day today? You guessed it, at another fundraiser being hosted by the Blackstone Group. And the Blackstone Group a private equity firm with over $330 billion in assets has some very deep pockets. I imagine that the luncheon menu will be most upscale, and that the assembled guests will enjoy making business and political chit-chat while a hired string quartet lends itself to the high status ambiance of such a soirée. Blackstone is apparently hedging its bets and predicting a Hillary win in November.
Anyway, a bit more on this company, and how they operate.
Since the buying frenzy began, no company has picked up more houses than the Blackstone Group, the largest private equity firm in the world. Using a subsidiary company, Invitation Homes, Blackstone has grabbed houses at foreclosure auctions, through local brokers, and in bulk purchases directly from banks the same way a regular person might stock up on toilet paper from Costco.
In one move, it bought 1,400 houses in Atlanta in a single day. As of November, Blackstone had spent $7.5 billion to buy 40,000 mostly foreclosed houses across the country. Thats a spending rate of $100 million a week since October 2012. It recently announced plans to take the business international, beginning in foreclosure-ravaged Spain.
http://www.occupy.com/article/revealed-blackstone-group-exploited-foreclosure-crisis-and-seized-homes-cheap
The kicker, of course, is that Blackstone, a publicly traded company, is owned by the same list of financial institutions Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, UBS, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan Chase which brought about the financial/housing crisis in the first place. These companies are thus making money because Blackstone is making money by renting out foreclosed homes on a large scale.
The net result?
Institutional investors are siphoning the wealth and the ability for wealth accumulation out of underserved communities, says Henry Wade, founder of the Arizona Association of Real Estate.

We know what she told them, we can be pragmatic too Hillary! They know that you are not going after them, you are going to help them screw us over AGAIN!!!!!!
I want to see what the Hillary supporters have to say to try to justify this one!

(15,480 posts)They are in their cave complaining that GD-P is a cess pool, and all we do is smear HRC, and it's so awful they're "going to leave the primaries completely" when the fact is they have no defense, no spin with which to answer documented facts about HRC's actions and statements.
HRC's botched campaign and indefensible statements and actions have taken the heart out of people who started out as her staunchest supporters.

(4,797 posts)And you can trace a direct line from those foreclosures through Blackstone's coffers to Hillary's campaign. I'm sure all those people who lost their homes are glad to know their losses went to fund Hillary.
I hope she's proud of herself.

(79,052 posts)This strikes me as saying that her campaign simply dismisses the concerns of a significant number of dedicated members of the Democratic Party, as well as the Democratic Left. At very best, it's unfortunate. In every case, it is insulting.

(68 posts)How about this for a Bernie campaign: Every time Hillary hosts a big-donor fundraiser, the Bernie folks find out and publicize exactly how much she rakes in, and then we set as a fundraising goal to beat it massively within 24 hours -- which we also publicize? If we do that 3-4 times running it might demoralize her people, and will also keep Bernie competitively funded.
No matter what.

(20,870 posts)She'll be facing a billion dollar GOP juggernaut in the fall. Her and the Democratic Party she's fundraising for will need every dime they can lay their hands on to not only win the White House, but to gain valuable seats in Congress.
The only people who can oppose such fundraising are those willing and able to write a check for the maximum $2500 to their candidate. I certainly can't.

(5,614 posts)Not good enough, Bernie! Do you remember that one the first days after Sanders made his announcement? Sort of set the tone for everything that came out of the Clinton campaign since. Meanwhile, despite her refusing to reveal the transcripts of her speeches to the Wall Street crowd, an awful lot of people are wondering why all these big spenders are spending their money backing HRC.
Just like the money from the private prison industry the fact that it is circulating among the HRC supporting superpacs has to make some people stop and think.

(19,806 posts)But Hillary (it appears) is trying to tell everyone who her boss really is and is going to remain. Usually in an election optics matter to a candidate. Usually in an election a candidate tries to put their best face forward and present a please image to the voters. We as voters know is just a face they are wearing, but still. Now we have the entire Republican trying to present the most evil image the can and Hillary trying to top them.
It just does not compute at all.

Not only is Hillary a lying hypocrite, she's a lying hypocrite that doesn't give a shit what anyone believes or thinks. Money is more important to her than the welfare of the nation.
And she still has supporters. Wow! Mind blowing. Either her supporters are blind or they don't give a shit about what she says or does.

(12,003 posts)How tone deaf is she????? She, quite obviously, has yet to figure out what this campaign is about. The entire eloctorate has had enough of money buying their government. Including the majority of Republicans, evidenced by the rise of Trump. Interview after interview after fucking interview theset dimwits say, "Well he's already rich, he can't be bought." From Republicans goddamnit! She's got a democratic socialist breaking records defeating her on a "money in politics" message. What the fuck, man? How big a neon blinking sign do you need. Are you kidding me? I don't get it, man. I just don't get it. What kind of imbeciles are running her campaign? Surely someone there can see this, no. My god! The incompetence in this campaign is legendary. I'm really beginning to worry about her should she make it to the general. Up until a couple weeks ago I thought whichever candidate wins the primary, we're good. GOP doesn't stand a chance. I'm now fucking worried.
