(12,689 posts)That way, he wouldn't have to go through a primary process. Then again, there are advantages to have a party structure to work with, so he was taking advantage of those. He still should have run as an independent, though.

(3,623 posts)...because he would rather see the Democrats win than Republicans. He will drop out and endorse Hillary when the time comes, whereas if he ran Independent this would not be the case.
He will still run as an independent and we'll be saying hello to President Trump.

(3,623 posts)More than likely he has already signed a pledge to endorse the Democratic Party nominee.

(15,429 posts)The popular vote does not matter because we can never know the actual popular vote count, only the resulting number of delegates.
And that massive number of flipped super delegates? It was 50 total and all came AFTER Obama had won the requisite number of delegates in primaries and caucuses.

(10,493 posts)This may help you understand why people refer to her as a weathervane or flip flopped, untrustworthy or lacking in integrity. She didn't win.

And if Michigans "uncommited" votes were accorded to Obama, hed have a 61,703-vote lead (0.2 percent), counting estimates from the non-reporting states.

(11,971 posts)Q: Did Clinton win the popular vote?
A: Obama won more votes unless you count Michigan, where he wasnt on the ballot.

(16,916 posts)Obama - 17,535,458 (48.1%)
Clinton - 17,493,836 (48.0%)
Obama +41,622 +0.1%
The ONLY way Clinton won the popular vote is if you add Michigan, where Obama TOOK HIS NAME OFF THE BALLOT.

On Oct. 11, 2007, Hillary said of the state, "Its clear, this election theyre having isnt going to count for anything."
Obama's name wasn't on the ballot because Hillary and Obama made a deal with the DNC to not have their name on the ballot because Michigan moved it's date up. Michigan wasn't going to count.
Only when she sleazed that flip-flop, did she get ahead.
Hillary pressed by saying "count ALL the votes"
When you count the caucus votes - Obama wins that and the overall.
Obama got more votes than Hillary in 2008 but more relevant for today, you remind us of another flip-flop in Hillary's career.

(2,125 posts)It wasn't exactly a graceful exit.

(2,760 posts)The issue is whether the SD would throw the election for Hillary if Bernie wins more pledged delegates.
By the way, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of that happening, so it's really a lot of outrage about nothing, especially this early in the process.
