Likewise, Hillary is funded by the same banks and financial institutions which have helped keep many minority communities poor and in debt, but Bernie has fought his whole life to protect minority communities and all communities from Wall Street fraud.
But you are not powerless; you have the power to vote for the best possible candidate for you and your family: Bernie Sanders.
(this message applicable for all voters of all backgrounds, of course)

(34,648 posts)AND I DO NOT PREFER KILLER MIKE AT ALL. He is a low grade artist who was on an Outkast song and won an award from that. I DO NOT LIKE HIS LYRICS.
bobbobbins01
(1,681 posts)Run the Jewels 2 was one of the best hip hop albums of 2014. You may not like his lyrics, but that doesn't mean you can ignore the critical acclaim of that album and try to downplay it by saying hes just some Outkast guest artist, and it definitely doesn't mean he doesn't know what he's talking about politically. Even if he was the shittiest hip hop artist on the planet, what he says politically may be spot on.

I do know is that he meets the level of critical acclaim to say without contest that he had one of the "best" hip-hop albums of 2014.

(8,879 posts)Bernie's approach is to hack away at the institutional racism that keeps poor people poor and keeps blacks fearing for their lives when they get pulled over by the cops, and that keeps fathers in jail and people out of work.

(1,250 posts)artislife, we have insulation from Hillary's mass media tactics.
The internet is the key.
All you gotta do is show the video to your friends & family on social media.
Tweet it. Facebook it. Tumblr it. Even e-mail it for the ones who still use that.
Show her record in her own words.
They say pictures speak louder than words. Video speaks louder than pictures.
And now the internet is literally in people's hands.
They shoulda NEVER invented the smartphone!
Because now people are about to get smart on what's really going on.

(18,290 posts)Which is how Hillary receives the bulk of her money.
Sanders, on the other hand, receives small amounts from great numbers of ordinary American citizens -- fundraising which has nothing to do with Citizens United.
If you're going to invoke Citizens United, at least know what you're talking about first.

Communities like Sierra Blanca? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eoin-higgins/what-about-sierra-blanca-bernie_b_9233818.html
If Clinton takes those votes for granted and Bernie doesn't, who does she have relationships with minority groups that go back decades while Bernie only recently started courting them? Why is his rhetoric on immigration during the campaign such a departure from his voting record over 25 years in congress?
And if she takes those votes for granted, why does she employ the largest percentage of minority staffers and devote so much attention to minority community groups, especially when the cameras aren't running?
What evidence do you have for any of the claims in your post?
Here's a tip for winning minority votes: don't have a support base that leads attacks against civil rights leaders, calling them liars and sell outs because they have the audacity to exercise their own democratic rights, or have the nerve to talk about their own experiences with racism and nativism.
In all these threads talking about what is wrong with people of color for not supporting Bernie, I have yet to see concern for those Americans. What I have seen repeatedly is outrage that they don't vote as told.
I'm sorry you don't feel one vote is enough for you, that you feel compelled to demand fealty from great swaths of the population, people you don't even know. But alas, being a Sanders supporter does not make you more equal. I know it's a travesty of justice that such inherent superiority is not enshrined in the law, anymore, but time marches on.

We don't have children.
We don't have student debt.
We pay property taxes in both the U.S. and Italy (husband is an Italian citizen). About 9K in the U.S. and 1500 there. It's a civic duty.
I give five figures to the UNCF each year.
My goal in 2016 is to secure property between Jaco and Manuel Antonio in CR (we are in our 40's) so we can escape America in a few years.
What's In It For Me? Why should my money to reach back and help those in my community who just need a shot at Spelman or Howard be diverted to a fund which based upon past American behavior - black people will be shut out of.
Past behavior being present :
The marginalization of blacks and Latinos in urban centers with shitty schools that deliberately left a kid graduating from high school in 2016 unable to enter college in the fall and be able to succeed in four years because of remedial work requirements?
Can you swear on your mother's soul or first born child's life that we won't end up in another FHA whites only policy for a good 35 years?
The school districts of today are a result of that policy which went up to 1968.
Or - if you were black on the 2010 census can you have access to this new Great New Deal but stay at your current tax rate with an automatic sunset in the year 2051? That would serve to say
Here's the head start our parents and grandparents received that yours didn't.
I don't know how to write it or say it but Clinton or Sanders - Cruz or Kasich - DC or State House - AMERICA has a serious credibility problem with black people.
AMERICA is not accountable.
We were supposed to be included during the New Deal as people but we weren't.
All of these years later : What's In It For Me. What's in it for me to take the oxygen mask off a black kid from Camden NJ who gets into Spelman but needs the financial assistance and extra tutoring and support that Spelman can provide her and give a hand out to the undeserving Abigail Fischers in America?
