Conceding that he failed to deliver at last weeks debate, President Obama says he was just too polite and that voters should expect a little more activity next week in round two.
In a radio interview on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Obama compared the presidential race to a seven-game basketball series in which he was ahead two-nothing and lost one game to Mitt Romney at the debate.
You have a seven-game series, were up two zero and we lose one, he explained. You know, this is a long haul and I think that its very important for folks to make sure that they understand that as long as people stay focused, we will win this thing.
The good news is thats just the first one, the president said of last weeks debate. Governor Romney put forward a whole bunch of stuff that either involved him running away from positions that he had taken or doubling down on things like Medicare vouchers that are going to hurt him long-term.

(7,117 posts)These were probably inevitable after the first debate if he had been more aggressive, considering that old video that FoxNews began recirculating the day before the debate.

(4,551 posts)Those people will never support Obama anyway.
It's moderates we need, and they are less likely to fall for the racism stuff.

Talk to him like he's a moron. Make him look like a child.

(7,117 posts)...that's what I want to see from him.
He's smarter than Romney, he has more experience, he's on the right side of history, so let's see Obama stand up and use these advantages and his gift for language to beat the crap out of Romney.

(2,064 posts)That is one way to look at it; he was polite. I do understand politeness.
I am not a debater; I do not know how to debate. So, I have no idea how he should have proceeded, nor any idea how he should the next time.

(168 posts)Obama now has a mandate to be more aggressive the next debate. The only people that will view him as an "angry black man" are the people who would never vote for him in the first place.

(921 posts)Mitt acting like a brazen a$$hole liar again is not a great news story. The way the news media works: what is the likelihood anyone can "win" 2 debates in a row? Much better to "win" the last one.
(Disclaimer: I personally feel Rmoney didn't so much "win" the 1st debate as just again show himself as the spoiled rich brazen a$$y a$$hole liar he really is.)

I'll bet PBO is taking notes on the Big Dog's performance and at least getting ready to loosen up a little!
