I liked Shane Ryan's funny take on it, too:

Because when you and your husband systematically sell out an entire racial group that counted on you as their only ally, the least they can do is reward you with their undying loyalty. All Sanders ever did was march with Martin Luther King Jr., lead protests against racial discrimination at the University of Chicago, and get dragged off by police for protesting segregation. But that all happened a long time ago, and for some reason the popular wisdom is that none of it matters anymore, so the logical reaction to this expired civil rights cred is to vote for Hillary, who spent her own youth working for Barry Goldwater, a segregationist, and has been a walking nightmare for America’s black population ever since. If you close your eyes, it almost makes sense.

That until Hillary addressed her, she did not say a word. Just quietly displayed her sign. Not interrupting Hillary's speech or anything. Then when Hillary addressed her, and then dismissed her without answering her quesstion, she did start talking, but she didn't shout. She was not the kind of protester that needed to be wrestled to the ground to be escorted out. She complied, but had she not, she would have been dragged out. She was too dignified for that. And she had already gotten her point across.

But go on with your meme...if it makes you feel better.

security persons who are trained to eject disruptive people. It's very simple to compare that encounter with BLM at Seattle with Bernie in which no security force stepped up as a unit, in which no person laid a hand on the activists and at which the activists were given the platform instead of the bum's rush.

But you are correct that they did not beat her with a stick, if that's the point you wish to make I'll grant that.

Between Bernie Sanders and the African-American Vote. Said This Last Week....

Williams said she got up to speak on Saturday because she wanted to dispel some myths.

"No firewall exists between Bernie Sanders and the African American community and the African American vote," she said, drawing applause.

"When Bernie talks about things like NAFTA — it devastated my community, which is Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township," she said. "We do not have the jobs that are needed for our children that can give them the $15 to $20 an hour they need in order to be able to take care of themselves and their families coming up. Those jobs used to exist in our community. We need them back."

http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2016/02/bernie_sanders_supporters_cele.html

Now between Hillary Clinton and the African-American Community....well let's just say -- incidents like this definitely does not help do anything but build a high to the sky Firewall between her and our votes.

After that, and Bush, and clinton not once but now at least twice, and a few others, I was wrong. It is just not what my local folks do, so I guess that is why it struck me as so strange.

But these guys are going to go there, now that it is their candidate.

This story was written by Ben Smith in 2008:

Hillary & Obama "Racial Tensions Roil Democratic Race"

A series of comments from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, her husband, and her supporters are spurring a racial backlash and adding a divisive edge to the presidential primary as the candidates head south to heavily African-American South Carolina.

The comments, which ranged from the New York senator appearing to diminish the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in the civil rights movement - an aide later said she misspoke - to Bill Clinton dismissing Sen. Barack Obama's image in the media as a "fairy tale" - generated outrage on black radio, black blogs and cable television. And now they've drawn the attention of prominent African-American politicians.

"A cross-section of voters are alarmed at the tenor of some of these statements," said Obama spokeswoman Candice Tolliver, who said that Clinton would have to decide whether she owed anyone an apology.

"There's a groundswell of reaction to these comments - and not just these latest comments but really a pattern, or a series of comments that we've heard for several months," she said. "Folks are beginning to wonder: Is this really an isolated situation or is there something bigger behind all of this?"

Note to the Hill Group: this is Hillary's problem with PoC, and it's history and it is present. With the SC primary coming up, it is relevant information for primary voters - so I suggest you learn to rebut it. Hiding any and all posts criticising Clinton for her indifference to (young) people of colour will not make the problem go away. The problem is Clinton, and the company she keeps (which includes the CEOs of the prison industry).

for so very long. I've seen these comments before and many of us know they've been around for a very long time. Without Bernie, NONE of this would have been brought forward. Our very own Democratic Party hasn't been there for us for way too long. They still think Bernie will go away... I doubt it.

Thanks for this video. I had not seen it.

Hillary stated that she would address the 'young lady's concern' if she would 'let me talk'. Although the video was cut short, I suspect no such discussion followed. IOW - Black Lives Matter, and quotes from Hillary's past about 'bringing super predators to heel' are not issues worth addressing.

Just saying that stuff like this fuels the basic assumptions of the other side and will hurt us in the end.

Also, she doesn't say anything about AA here. I guess you can't actually insert words somebody didn't say even in propaganda. She's talking about gang violence.

So why are people making the (racist) assumption that gangs are only comprised of AA people? Every race has gangs in urban areas. Including white, by the way.

Ads would be flooding every major black market in the country showing a montage of the superpredator speech, Hillary telling BLM protesters she'd only talk to white people, and the BLM protester being removed while Hillary says 'and now back to important issues'. And her 'firewall' would dissolve into quicksand.

...and it is this:

"The (BLM) demonstration comes three days before the South Carolina primary, where turnout from black voters will be key to Clinton clinching the Democratic nomination. (emphasis added)
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/clinton-black-lives-matter-south-carolina_us_56ce53b1e4b03260bf7580ca

It would be highly crazy if South Carolina can determine the nomination for the masses of people in California, in New York, in Florida, and the masses of people in all the places in between. Sanders and Clinton are tied on committed delegates. SC's delegates won't change that much. And, up till now, Sanders has gone from near zero to a tie in Iowa, a smashing popular victory in NH, and a not very big loss in Nevada (where he also merited many delegates, and got the most Latino votes).

"The black turnout" in SC is NOT "key" to Clinton "clinching" the nomination. It may be key to Clinton clinching SC. But even if she does win SC, Sanders is still beating her in three recent national polls for the nomination, and he is soundly beating all Republicans as well, while she loses to them or wins by much less.

NH is a much better indicator of Sanders' potential success. And we have a lo-o-o-ong way to go before this is over.

Sanders is committed to this campaign all the way to the convention, and he is showing a sharp up-curve on almost all indicators. Clinton is showing a down-curve, which may flatten out a bit in SC, but she has terrible "favorability" numbers overall.

Sanders is committed because his campaign is not about him; it's about us. And every "kitchen sink" that the Clinton campaign throws at him, is thrown at us, at "we, the people." And we feel it, Hillary. We do. My advice: Best to cut it out!

73. So gang = black? How positively Republican in approach.

Let's start with the full video, and not just a hand selected snip-it.
http://www.c-span.org/video/?c4557866/hillary-clinton-criminal-justice-drug-policy-circa-1996

Is it your assertion that only blacks are part of violent gangs? Then it kind of makes the clip irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Gang activity disproportionately affects poor neighborhoods more than wealthy neighborhoods. Would you agree to this much?

Reduction in gang activity therefore, logically improves quality of life and safety of the citizens in the poorer neighborhoods. Would you agree with that statement?

Income inequality disproportionately affects minorities. Agree?

Unless I've lost you on one of these statements, the logical conclusion is that reducing gang activity (which was the ACTUAL topic of that speech), will directly improve the lives of poorer (majority minority) neighborhoods.

The results of the crack down on gang activity, in particular, is also easy enough to demonstrate:

If you want to focus on the private prison system as an atrocity of Human rights? You've got an ally here.
If you want to attack the disgusting abuses by law enforcement of the power that has been entrusted to them, and the use of that power to abuse, and in many cases murder the citizens they are charged with protecting? You've got an ally here.

If you want to use a snippet of a video to paint a false picture of a candidate who has worked for human rights? Nope.

And, before someone comes back with the "then why don't you call out Hillary supporters on this kind of trash campaigning?" I have. More than a few times.

The Hillarians, of course, will try to disparage this video as edited propaganda.

But I have watched the Clintons since 1991; in the very beginning I was a supporter (a county chair for Bill Clinton in the 1992 Colorado primary); I've met Hillary Clinton.

Virtually everything in this video is true and accurate.

This is indeed, also, just the tip of the iceberg of all the controversial things Hillary and Bill have said and done since being part of the national power structure.

The Democratic Party elites may feel right now that they have to knuckle under to the Clinton machine's bullying and intimidation -- but the Party would be insane to nominate her and endure the political devastation that the Clinton 30 year legacy and record will bring down around its feet.

There will be a "First Woman President" within the decade ... I'm sure of that.
It doesn't have to be someone as flawed and as phony as Hillary Clinton.

Nadin Brzezinski (friend) this is a major issue, that is not going away, and as far as African Americans are concerned it was not about the gangs... you might want to do the academic exercise of a semantic shift, if you want to, but one has occurred. Myself, I don't question people who see these statements as well racist. And I am honestly going to say, and we ran a story on how it has exploded in social media. I went to bed at 2 in the morning, after watching it go from a couple tweets a minute to trending, that I expect this to affect the vote, How much, is a good question, And not in her favor.
