The one consistent talking point among Hillary boosters: History

If you bring up the fact she was a "Goldwater girl," sat on the board of directors of Wal-Mart and never met a war she didn't like you will be told, "History doesn't matter!"

If you bring-up the fact that Sanders has consistently spoken-up for workers, the environment, civil rights and anti-imperialism you will be told, "History doesn't matter!"

1. I have said this many times.

If you don't know where you come from, how do you know where your going? Without history you have no direction.

4. Bernie

essentially dropped out from society and moved to Vermont while most of us of the era were building our careers, making families and generally contributing to the world. He wasn't heard from after receiving an excellent U of Chicago education for quite a while. A black mark against him as far as I'm concerned. That's history too.

5. What crap.

I was in Vermont in the '60s. At least I wasn't bouncing around as a Goldwater Girl. There's definite black mark. Hillary only jumped ship from Goldwater when she saw the change in the wind and figured she could gain more by switching sides. She'd jump back in a minute -- in fact, in many ways, she already has. Right now, she is pretty much to the right of Goldwater.

18. Clinton's political views changed dramatically in college because of the Vietnam War and...

...the Civil rights movement. My views did the same. I was raised by conservative parents, and didn't find my political voice until I was in college and started to gain some intellectual maturity. It is such a bogus meme to imply that because Clinton was conservative when she was a young, she couldn't possible be a liberal for the next 50 years.

7. And from 1968 til 1981

What did he do? He was a hippie who dropped out. Those of us who worked our butts off to help society and built something of ourselves really didn't think much of those folks. History too. But he changed after that just as Hilary denounced republicanism . If his changes matter, why doesn't hers?

And he brags about being a bad carpenter and living in a shack with no floors....and I won't bring up the part about having a child while married to another. Not bad at all, but left out of campaign rhetoric. While Hillary is castigated at every turn. My point is he evolved to responsible officeholder. Why can't Sec Clinton be afforded the same recognition?

12. From Wiki

Private careers

After graduating from college, Sanders initially worked in New York City in a variety of jobs, including Head Start teacher, psychiatric aide, and carpenter.[25] In 1968 Sanders moved to Vermont because he had been "captivated by rural life." After his arrival there he worked as a carpenter, filmmaker, and writer[39] who created and sold "radical film strips" and other educational materials to schools.[40]

Liberty Union campaigns

Sanders began his electoral political career in 1971 as a member of the Liberty Union Party, which originated in the anti-war movement and the People's Party. He ran as the Liberty Union candidate for governor of Vermont in 1972 and 1976 and as a candidate for U.S. senator in 1972 and 1974.[41] In the 1974 Senatorial race, Sanders finished third (5,901 votes; 4.1%) behind the victor, 33-year-old Chittenden County State's Attorney Patrick Leahy (D, VI; 70,629 votes; 49.4%), and two-term incumbent U.S. Representative Dick Mallary (R; 66,223 votes; 46.3%).[42][43]

The 1976 campaign proved to be the zenith of Liberty Union's influence, with Sanders collecting 11,000 votes for Governor and the party forcing the races for Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State to be decided by the state legislature when its vote total prevented either the Republican or Democratic candidates for those offices from garnering a majority of votes.[44] The campaign drained the finances and energy of the Liberty Union, however, and in October 1977 less than a year after the conclusion of the 1976 campaign Sanders and the Liberty Union candidate for Attorney General, Nancy Kaufman, announced their retirement from the party.[45]

Following his resignation from Liberty Union, Sanders worked as a writer and the director of the nonprofit American People's Historical Society (APHS).[46] While with the APHS, he made a 30-minute documentary about American Socialist leader and presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs.[28][47]

22. I love how a bio can be tweaked and spun no matter what the facts. A "carpenter" and "filmaker"?

I don't hold it against Sanders at all that he dropped out for a while and lived the hippie life. I do, however, find it very hard to believe that the school system bought "radical" film strips from him. This link supports my suspicion.

20. Not what I said

how do you know if I do or not live in rural America myself? Takes me 20 minutes to get to a grocery store. My point is his youthful pursuits are totally dismissed while every one of hers is suspect. Lets talk about current issues which can really affect us all.

If you are unaware of every liberal cause that Clinton has worked for since she was a "Goldwater girl", you are appallingly misinformed.
