2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYesterday, alone, a Clinton SuperPac reported spending nearly another $500,000
One of those super PACs raised $15 million from Wall Street and the financial industry in the last half of 2015, and is now spending millions of dollars to try and tip the balance of a number of upcoming primaries and caucuses in Hillary Clintons favor. And just yesterday alone they reported spending nearly another $500,000.

(3,649 posts)Who raise their money through member donations? You know, it's actually kind of funny that they were able to outspend one of Clinton's Wall St Super PACs in Iowa. On the other hand, it's a little sad that one guy (Soros) was able to donate more money than all of the nurse members combined. Says a lot about today's campaign finance system.
MaggieD
(7,393 posts)Yes, yes, we know. But if his is so good why does he keep claiming it doesn't exist?
HerbChestnut
(3,649 posts)And they're completely autonomous. The same cannot be said for several SuperPACs that support Clinton. For example, (and you know this as well as I, but for those at home...) one of her supporting SuperPACs is run by David Brock, a notorious political figure known for destroying the character of whomever he's paid to. That PAC works directly with the Clinton campaign. Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/05/12/how-a-super-pac-plans-to-coordinate-directly-with-hillary-clintons-campaign/

(7,393 posts)And no, Clinton doesn't work directly with any SuperPac to coordinate spending. Neither does Bernie. That is illegal. No candidate does that.
Correct the Record is a blog for dog sake. And PACs donate to candidates - they don't coordinate with them. Please learn the difference between a PAC and a SuperPac.

(7,393 posts)And you guys have posted that same damn story about 350 times. The problem is not that I did not read it, it's that you don't understand it.

(3,649 posts)The point of the article is in the damn title.

(7,393 posts)So yes, they can talk to each other. But he acts like he doesn't even know his superpac when they are right at his campaign events. Doesn't it bother you that he is being disingenuous about that?
A bit of info you are apparently unaware of. You're welcome:
"One main reason: Under Federal Election Commission rules, there is no wall dividing candidates and independent groups. In practice, its more like a one-way mirror with a telephone on each side for occasional calls.
The rules of affiliation are just about as porous as they can be, and it amounts to a joke that theres no coordination between these individual super PACs and the candidates, said Rep. David E. Price (D-N.C.), who has sponsored legislation that would put stricter limits in place.
A close reading of FEC regulations reveals that campaigns can do more than just publicly signal their needs to independent groups, a practice that flourished in the 2014 midterms.
Operatives on both sides can talk to one another directly, as long as they do not discuss candidate strategy. According to an FEC rule, an independent group also can confer with a campaign until this fall about issue ads featuring a candidate. Some election-law lawyers think that a super PAC could share its entire paid media plan, as long as the candidates team does not respond."

(18,458 posts)You do realize that they break the law right?!??!
And Hillary has been caught doing this several times this time around, never mind last time.
