Here come the poll numbers again.

Remember in the fall, when Hillary's supporters had all but given up on discussing the issues and all they had were poll numbers? Well, it's back. Clinton is under fire for her past, and current, actions and all they have to fall back on are poll numbers that are quickly turning to Bernie's favor. This will be an interesting few weeks.

Corporate media love them, but they distract voters from focusing on very real policy differences:

“We do not emphasize the polls,” (Goodman) pointed out. “I would love the media, there to be a month without polls. What is the value of these polls? If I am making a decision about a candidate, I want to weigh their record.”

...doens't mean we can discuss the realities of how successful (or not) the candidates are.

Also, DU is not the corporate media. The media have a finite amount of time. Every minute spent comparing conflicting poll numbers is a minute that could have been used to better inform the citizenry.

Unfortunately, polls create an excitement that distracts from reality. But they're good for ratings, which means they're good for commercial interests. Stations have long since abandoned their mandate to operate in the public interest. Not only that, but some candidates actually benefit from citizens who are not sufficiently informed.

Doesn't anyone remember the rating agencies that gave AAA ratings to the phony derivatives being sold by the banks?

If someone says they are running an honest poll who can you believe about that?

Let's just run the campaign as if we were fighting for every vote and let the polls go gather dust.

Sanders doesn't need polls to convince millionaires and billionaires to cough up money to keep the campaign going.

He's got us.

Don't trust leaders and watch the parking meters.
