Important to learn from 2000

Before 2000 election, Bill Maher and Michael Moore were so sure that Bush couldn't win, that they encouraged their supporters to vote for Nader because they didn't like Gore. As we all know now...election was so close that Supreme Court decided it.

What we got was 8 years of Bush, an unnecessary war that killed many of our people and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis...and our economy was destroyed.

Leaders reflect the people. We can't outrun evolution.

Although I'm always hopeful...it's hard to imagine that we could get a Socialist president now...when even most democrats don't really understand what socialism is.

Use common sense not your ego. Don't waste your vote to make a statement...it could get us Trump.

Hillary is so despised, she has no chance of winning a general.

It's why I was an early supporter of Obama as well.

Her numbers go down, not up and she's already within the MOE against Trump, and losing to all other Republican candidates.

I'd be thrilled if Bernie won.

But...if he doesn't...he will encourage his supporters to get behind Hillary and that is what we all need to do. After Hillary lost to Obama in 2008...she rallied her people to support him.

Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost. John Quincy Adams

But, we are living in entirely different times.

Are personal principles more important than the many lives lost under Bush?

And, though in "different times", principles still count.

What other kind of principles are there, other than personal?

...they vote on issues like gay marriage and abortion. Neither of those things put food on the table or will provide them with a job.

But, everyone has the right to vote however they want.

...you are conflating Nader's run with Bernie's run. But as anyone who has followed the race AT ALL knows, Bernie chose to run as a Democrat specifically so as not to run a spoiler campaign. We are in the primaries, not the general, so there is little danger that our votes will be co-opted by the Supreme Court just yet.

Secondly, there are many polls out showing that in head-to-head match-ups against Republicans, Bernie wins more and by higher margins than Hillary. So if you think that voting for Bernie is voting for Trump, you should look at those polls again. Now polls are not votes, and they change over time; but they are an important source of information during a political campaign -- and the polls show that the arguments that Hillary is more electable than Bernie are fallacious.

Finally, whether you personally think that "we could get a Socialist president now" is immaterial. Again, we have a lot of data showing that political thinking is shifting in this country. We also have many, many issues-based polls showing that a majority of the population agrees with very liberal policies, often the same as or very similar to Bernie's positions. Now there is more to politics than just arguing the issues, unfortunately... But Bernie is a strong campaigner as we have seen.

Nader and Sanders...totally different. This time we don't have a "Nader". But people can choose to not vote at all rather that vote for Clinton.

Although I don't believe all the crap that has been written about the Clintons...I can disagree with some of her choices while holding office. Still...the worst of our people are Gandhi compared to the evil and ignorance on the other side. For God's sake...so many of them believe Lincoln shouldn't have freed the slaves!!! Are we going to risk getting a self serving moron because our candidate isn't perfect in every way???

We will get a perfect president when the people become more perfect. That will require a lot more evolution!

...when poll after poll shows Bernie doing better, not worse, than Hillary in head-to-head match-ups with various Republican candidates.

If you're scared of a Trump presidency, then you might be better off with Bernie as your candidate.
