Joe Biden Tethers VP nominee Paul Ryan to Former President Bush.

Dear Democratic Underground,

I was watching the post-debate analysis across several cable news networks. As you saw, all of the pundits and commentators discussed a wide range of issues, and graded the candidates performances on each of them; however, there was one important point that I had not seen addressed, and I was surprised to see that even MSNBC didn't pick up on it.

Joe Biden tied Paul Ryan to President Bush during the discussion of the privatization of social security. Even more interesting, Ed (host of the Ed Show on MSNBC) said that Paul Ryan made a "good pitch" to young Americans and came out on top.

I never thought I'd say this, but I totally disagree with Ed. Paul Ryan did not emerge victorious on that issue, in fact, it was Paul Ryan's worst moment in the debate. Former President Bush is very unpopular among both Democrats and Independents, and being defined as a supporter of BUsh policies, also defines you as a supporter of a former President who part our economy in freefall. Also, just prior to tethering Paul Ryan to President Bush, Biden says "They act as if this Recession just fell out of the sky, remember who put it there."

So Biden put the sins of Bush Administration fresh in everyone's mind, and then soon after ties an unbreakable knot forging Paul Ryan and Bush together, one and the same.

This to me was the most powerful moment in the debate, and so far in the Presidential campaign, because we can only assume that Mitt Romney's "real policies" are heavily aligned with Paul Ryan's, since he doesn't tell us his own policies, and also chose Paul Ryan as his Vice President, or someone would would enact HIS will if something were to stop Mitt Romney from being able to continue governing as the President of the United States.

Then, by implication, Mitt Romney is also tied to President Bush, since his VP is tied to him and the same failed policies. All Obama needs to do is elaborate on his weakly inserted line during the first Presidential Debate about Romney, "This is the same sales pitch they gave in 2000 and 2004, and it didn't work." This is in reference to Bush's "trickle down economics" sales pitch.

So good job Joe, you tied them to President Bush!
Obama 2012,
A Random Voter

P.S.
Another thing I love about Joe Biden, he doesn't fight fire with fire, he fights it with napalm.

Going to pour through re-runs of the MSNBC coverage, maybe I misinterpreted how he said it.
