In the next coming weeks, you will be confronting a slew of David Brock/Podesta campaign disinformation ploys trying to control the narrative with Bernie supporters that the race is over.......
They employ an army of media taking heads to create whatever reality is required.

This cannot be allowed to happen and the fact that this idea is even being floated must mean there is something that they fear.

(5,191 posts)They are hiding something. It's fucking so irresponsible of the DNC to keep backing a candidate with a potential implosion and so utterly selfish of the Clintons. Remember how angry we were when the Bush administration stalled and did everything to hid the truth from the public?

(1,178 posts)I stopped watching when the cooking channels changed from recipe/technique shows to competitive bullying of young chefs who failed to make an adequate dessert in 15 minutes using herring, pork blood and cabbage.
What is it about Americans that makes us so interested in watching trainwreck reality shows or exhibitions of sadomasochism? It certainly explains the Trump phenomenon.

(1,680 posts)The 4 BBQ teams show up to compete. They are then told they have to make a banana pudding, etc. before they start the BBQ competition. They make the dessert first. The team with the least appetizing dessert is eliminated and sent home before they get to compete for best BBQ! These are teams that worked their way up from local cook-offs to this national level of competition for their great BBQ, and they are kicked out for a dessert. Stupid!

(1,178 posts)but perhaps naive or not well informed. Most people just don't think like that because they're nice. They want to believe what other people tell them and really can't conceive that other people can be that deceptive. They may not be Internet savvy and have never been given a reason to distrust their local newspaper or TV news because they have not been exposed to media that are not controlled. This is precisely why they are easily deceived.
I am thinking, in particular, about my older relatives who mostly live in Florida and whose Internet experience is limited to getting emailed photos of the grandkids. During the last election, Sarah Silverman put out a video urging younger people to call their older relatives. I think that was a great idea and plan on contacting my Florida relatives before their primary to explain why they should support Bernie.

(643 posts)It will probably take a non-profit to do a proper documentary on just how much media drives and influences the public opinion. That would be a film that everyone should watch. Maybe we should pitch it to Michael Moore.

(10,345 posts)The media is saying that Hillary has "secured the nomination" and that Bernie should pack it up.
But somehow that logic doesn't work in the Republican race where they don't exactly want Trump to win.
On THAT side, they're saying Cruz (who lost by greater margins than Bernie lost to Hillary) "lives to fight another day".
Yet, they don't apply that logic to Bernie. No, he's done for. See how that's backwards?

This is an actual conversation I had with a millennial last nite. Of course I calmed her down & we had a long talk about the media and this.
But that is one person that I know.
How many others are out there.
Arizona is in early voting right now. Our primary is on 3/22.
It's a close race, one poll showing Bernie with a lead, the other showing Hillary with a lead "but that could change depending on the college towns".
Congrats media for trying to control democracy.

Guess with Hillary supporters if she steals it or cheats it just doesn't matter, just so she wins.
Iowa and the improprieties in NV are very good examples.
DU must be a very popular site and you cant tell me there are not Clinton operatives here defending our comments and just plain keeping the pot stirred with scripts and subject material direct from the campaign..I suspect Bill is a big part of it.
So if you have a comment for Bill just post it here because he will it see along many others from the campaign.

(187 posts)The little I watched this primary season reinforced my decision quit watching them. The good news is that they don't have the monopoly or influence they once did before the internet and the rise of independent media. Less people are buying their biased narrative and tuning them out.

(8,812 posts)The extent to which they dictate the narrative in this country is pretty appalling.
The longer you've been away, the more obvious it is. You also realize how many good people -- smart people -- are inadvertently echoing the corporate message.
