Sorry people who make these kinds of gross assumptions and distortions of reality generally don't count no matter what their post count.
If you don't like what he is saying during a still very active primary campaign, you are always free to trash the thread and move on.

(16,104 posts)I count ALL the votes.
But I know you all are sticklers for fact - so I'll concede 'presumptive' nominee, if it will make you happy.

(6,252 posts)That would be correct.
"Sticklers for fact" - yeah - that would be me.
davidthegnome
(2,983 posts)you are counting inaccurately.
These are not pledged delegates. They can alter their vote at any time up until the convention. They have in fact, switched their votes in large numbers in the past... particularly during the 2008 primaries. So, no, you're not counting ALL the votes. You're counting pledged delegates and potential delegates. Those numbers will not be accurate until after we actually have a nominee. There is no telling how many super delegates may change their votes and/or why they might do so.
Frankly, I'd largely prefer our party got rid of the super delegates altogether - as they are extremely undemocratic. One person... one vote. It is a very simple concept, a simple thing to practice. The hardest working people in this Country get ONE vote. So should the so called "super delegates". It is a corruption of democracy.
A Simple Game
(9,214 posts)could you explain to me where this came from
Tell me why I should believe anything you post and why I shouldn't use your support of Hillary as a reflection on all the rest of Hillary's supporters?
green917
(442 posts)ALL the votes that have been counted to date have secretary clinton ahead by less than 200 delegates with 25 states yet to cast their votes. Super delegates don't count until the convention (because they don't vote until the convention)! So, your math is a bit fuzzy!
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)There are primaries and caucuses, state conventions, and then a national party convention - where the actual voting begins.
You want to pick and choose which votes to tally now as if it would give you some kind of advantage - or better picture.
This may be new to you, but this is the way it has been done for decades!
Need 2,382 total delegate votes. To date, Hillary 1,062. Bernie 431.

(2,983 posts)are very democratic. We have democrats, independents, libertarians, liberal republicans, conservative democrats, anarchists... many, many different kinds of people here at DU. We've got a pretty big tent. Grasswire has been here a very long time, so I'm pretty sure Grasswire knows this is a democratic website.
If you want people marching in lock-step who aren't permitted to have great differences of opinion, perhaps you, too, should remember that this is a democratic website. This is what we do, what we have always done - especially during the primaries. People get frustrated, people get angry, politicians and candidates do some sleazy shit.
Grasswire is very much at home here.
That being said, it's your condescension and not your post count that annoys me. If you want to argue with the things Grasswire said, by all means, do so, we do that here all the time. If you want to say... "fall in line or git out!" I would advise you to take a history lesson from the years of the Bush Presidency, when many, many Bush advocates were calling democrats traitors and scum bags. We are not the party of George W Bush. We are not the party of "My way or no way at all!". We are the party of dissent, of diversity.
Our candidates should be challenged, criticized and doubted at every turn. These are people who might very well lead the Nation one day - they signed up for this when they decided to campaign for President.
There are democrats - and there are democrats.
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)What is "challenging" about that? How is that a critique or doubt?
That is plain, vile, revolting, unfounded personal attack on another human being aside from being a candidate.

(62,325 posts)need to be silent and refrain from expressing their opinions on the candidates they are being asked to vote for.
That would be a very bad thing if it was true.
It would mean that the voters have no say whatsoever in who they want to do the job, and it is a job, of representing their interests, the decision will be made for them, they will loyally get behind whoever is chosen FOR them and refrain from expressing any opinion whatsoever.
Their votes are OWNED, iow by whoever decides FOR them who they will support.
That doesn't sound very Democratic to me.
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)I'm saying Democrats want their website back!
Critique policy and issues. Promote your candidate.
But in the end, support the Democratic nominee, or go somewhere else!
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)for the confirmation 'go somewhere else'.
Since this IS a Democratic forum Democrats are expressing and deciding what is important. You may not like their opinions that is your right, it is not your right to tell Democrats to 'go somewhere else' unless you own the forum.
I like how you confirmed my theory though 'either vote for who WE choose or go somewhere else'.
It should concern you that 12% of registered Dem voters HAVE taken your advice and 'gone somewhere else', at least half of them are now registered Independents.
It concerns ME as this is MY Party and I vehemently oppose anyone telling life long Democrats to 'go somewhere else'
See the last two mid terms which are a result of EXACTLY what you just demonstrated, voters being told to 'go somewhere else'.
Thanks for undoing all the work we did to win the House and Senate driving voters out of the party and handing control of the Senate and Congress to REPUBLICANS.
I will not join those who take your advice, this is my party and NO ONE gets to tell ME to 'go somewhere else'. I will fight to keep this party OUT OF THE HANDS of Wall St and IN the hands of the voters.
Shameful display of arrogance. This isn't YOUR PARTY.
And if the administrators agree with you, then they need to make an announcement telling all Bernie supporters to 'go somewhere else' .
We will do so WHEN they confirm what you seem to want. Until then, we will assume that as this is a Dem forum, this is where we belong.
Just ask the admins to confirm your statement and I a majority of members here will happily 'go somewhere else'.

(14,195 posts)Vast rightwing conspiracy is one thing BUt Hillary & Bill thinking THEY are above the law is also the truth. See Bill's bull crap in Mass on Super Tuesday, voter obstruction at its heart. Telling one person in the polls " pull the lever for Hillary" after his motorcade and secret service detail had blocked the road at another poll so people had to wait 2 HOURS. Oh, and his bullhorn rally oitsode another polling place, within 150 feet of the door!
Electioneering within 150 is against the law. Electioneering INSIDE the polling place is against the law. Bill broke the law, flagrantly.
Hillary deleted all emails that SHe determined were not work related. So did Huma. Yet Huma worked for the Clinton Foundation AND state dept at the same time. Clintin Foundation got huge donations from countries who were then approved for weapons purchases by State Dept. It MAY not ve quid pro quo, but it does NoT pass the smell test.

But every once in a while, it's not so hard.
I've realized that's when she's making cynical or conservative statements. When she's doing that, her voice doesn't irk me. Must be my radar filtering out all the phony.
When she was speaking in favor of selective death penalty during the debate last month, she didn't sound disingenuous at all. I didn't put it on mute, and managed to hear the whole thing. And when she said "we can either get dirty oil from Middle East, or dirty oil from Canada," in reference to Keystone Pipeline, her tone didn't bother me. She seemed comfortable, and in character.

SANDERS: What that revolution is about is bringing millions of millions of people into the political process. Working people who have been so disillusioned, they no longer vote. Young people who have never been involved.
What the political revolution is about is bringing our people together. Black and white, Latino, Asian-American.

SANDERS: Gay and straight. People born in America, people who have immigrated to America. When we bring our people together, when we do not allow the Donald Trumps of the world to divide us up.

Shame isn't in your vocabulary nor understanding. The men and women that ran with those candidates, were all Democrats, and I respected that, but never once displayed this level of animosity towards any of them. You have no respect for our party, for the people who have worked for years and years to help Democrats get elected and support the ideals which that party stands for. As some here might say, Bernie is not a Democrat ... although he has mostly stood with the Dems for decades, but has spoken out for the equality of ALL people, when many Dems were silent. But that does not seem to matter to some people who hold up a letter.

(4,624 posts)I have read dreadful tirades against both Sanders and Clinton. I think we need to dial it down. You know, whenever I am working for a candidate, there is a buildup of group anxiety that can cause exaggeration of the opponent's flaws. Instead of posing as angelic figures battling the forces of darkness, we need to show more respect for the other side. Just because you think your candidate is better or that the other candidate is wrong or has done things that should not have been done, that is no reason to assume deliberate villainy or lies or crimes. Maybe they just got confused or tricked or carried away. Maybe they just didn't realize something because they were concentrating on another important problem area. Maybe, if we all think about each other's ideas, we would come up with something even better than either side has suggested, maybe something off in another direction that would solve lots of problems.
