(11,504 posts)If the current polling holds, Sanders will face an insurmountable lead. He won't just need to win every state left, but he'll need to win them by margins that may not be possible even in an uncontested race.
This post spells it all out. Nobody is winning CA with 87% of the vote, which is what Bernie will need if things don't change.

(16,286 posts)when it is time to switch to Hillary, if that time comes.
I think he will opt not to drag it out if he has little chance and he will show leadership and credibility by speaking out in support of Hillary WHILE non stop pushing for his OUR agenda.
Bleacher Creature
(11,504 posts)He's run a very impressive campaign, and he deserves to stay in as long as he needs if doing so helps him be to be sure his issues will be appropriately represented by Clinton in the general. He's earned that right and I certainly wouldn't oppose anything that keeps attention on our candidates (as opposed to the virtual car crash on the GOP side).

(57,936 posts)I have other plans. I will be out of here and find another place to post. I will not visit Daily Kos if they carry through on that threat.
There are lots of things to do in this world besides support a corrupt candidate for the president in the United States.
I am supporting Bernie and if he does not win, I will leave it to her supporters to get Hillary elected to the presidency.
I am 72 years old. I have seen the corporate world from the inside. I will not vote for a corporate candidate like Hillary. Never, ever, ever.

I hope we see some new discussion forums emerge that allows for OPEN discussion without control exerted on what's allowed for discussion (as long as it's left-wing discussion). Right wing trolls not needed.
But, Greens, Democratic Socialists, Democrats, and left-leaning independents should be able to openly discuss things without this type of control management being exerted.

(32,324 posts)From Daily Kos folks about whether I am still here at DU, and whether there is tyranny or freedom.
I also am getting some secret stuff about how Hillary cannot survive until September. There is a scandal or something worse than a scandal, about to break forth. (This information is not related to RW web sites, but instead to remarks made by some of the witches and shamans my husband is involved with. When South American juju experts say her future is BLACK, and they don't mean African American, one has to listen, if one is psychically inclined.)
Also Katy Perry revealed that she received some $ 70,000 to throw her support over to Hillary. that might explain Olivia Wilde's statements when she was on Colbert the other week. When asked about who she was supporting, Wilde said very briefly, "I am a Hillary Supporter."
When Colbert, who is also adamantly for Hillary, queried her, she said, "I have my reasons." The pair then locked eyes, and I was left wondering:
1) How much did Ms Wilde receive?
2) How much did Colbert receive?

one_voice
(20,043 posts)that I wish we'd see more here. It's just as important as who running for president.
this is important:
There is strong agreement that our primary process is broken and must be reformedcaucuses are a travesty of democracy (and both sides won their share, so its not a partisan issue), and a calendar that gives Iowa and New Hampshire dibs on winnowing the field, while most Democrats wont have a real say, cannot continue. It does no one any good.
There is strong agreement that we need to reform the Super Delegate system. The idea that a group of party elders could overturn the will of the party voter is deeply offensive and undemocratic. (Add to that, Id close all primaries, because why should non-Democrats have a say in who the Democrats nominate? But I get thats a more controversial position.)
As for the Bernie v Hillary thing. He clearly states that if Bernie is still competitive than the primaries continue.
w4rma
(31,700 posts)Is he going to rely on the always wrong polls? No, from what I can tell, this is just another attempt to censor Sanders by the neoliberals currently scared of the voters.

(1,214 posts)If she doesnt, and Bernie Sanders overperforms expectations and the polls, then congrats to him, this primary continues! But if he continues to fall short, the math becomes prohibitive. If your state hasnt voted, dont sweat it! You can still vote for whoever you want when its your turn. But dont get upset that your vote doesnt matter. Thats the way the primary calendar works. Iowa and New Hampshires votes matter the most for no rational reason, and everyone else gets to pick among the scraps until the scraps are gone and the math is determinative. Its a bullshit system, but its what were stuck with. We can all work to change it next time around.
To reiterate, if Sanders eats into Clintons big delegate lead by March 15, then we carry on. But if he doesnt, then on March 15 this site officially transitions to General Election footing. That means, we will focus our attention not just on Donald Trump or his rivals, but also on the Senate, the House, and state-level races. If you want the most liberal government possible, we arent going to get that this cycle in the White House, but we can keep building the bench down the ballot so that come 2024, we have lots of great liberals to choose from.
jfern
(5,204 posts)for him. He doesn't have any really bad states after March 15. Kos chose that threshold so that it would sound reasonable to the uninformed, but that Bernie would have no chance of meeting it. Really pathetic move by Kos.

I can understand doing this once a nominee is firm. But March 15?
This is nothing but a blackout of half of the Democratic party when we're in the middle of a primary.
Bernie could still win. Yes, it's a long shot. However, it's possible.
This is censorship and its designed specifically to disappear Bernie voices and give the appearance that Hillary has more support (and less opposition) than she does.
I'm thinking that it's high time that people get together and start their own discussion websites that are not so blatantly acting as PR devices for Hillary Clinton. Because that's EXACTLY what that site will become.
He even told people they couldn't use the word "neocon" as it relates to Hillary Clinton. Good God. Let's specifically mention how important it is to cover up her war engineering. Truly unbelievable.

I guess the point has finally come when a candidate has tested the limits of the corporate gravy train, and we can't have that. Free thought. Free speech. It's no longer welcome. Not even in the democratic party. So if you don't mind, please protest in the "free speech zone", away from the cameras, and out of sight from anyone or anything you are actually protesting. And please disable your internet and camera, while we try to block any competing message. Because, 'Murika. GWB HRC does it matter? Do we matter?

(This would explain his scientific ignorance, since I've long suspected that in America one cannot get a journalism degree if one has passed a science course.)
Nevertheless all of the touchy Feely stuff aside, he makes it very clear that he owns his website.
Now personally I happen to agree with Kos - and for personal reasons I have zero respect for him - that some of the contempt for Ms. Clinton is way over the top, but I say that as a person who trembles at the thought of the worst racist president since Woodrow Wilson, a putative President Trump.
I have been banned at Daily Kos for stating a truth about a obvious consequence of a scientific paper written by a prominent climate scientist to whom Kos and his waterboys used to appeal often (albeit in a less than comprending way) but as I'm sure Kos would happily point out, it's his web site and he controls for better or worse what can be said there.
Now. I can't apologize to him for telling the truth nor am I compelled to have any respect for him - I have a low opinion of him and I'm quite sure in my own way that as hard as he works for Democratic victory he's more a partisan than a person concerned with humanity but that said...
You have plenty of places on the Internet where you can express your opinion that Ms. Clinton is the reincarnation of Elena Caucescu if you really think as much - and I profoundly disagree with you on that score if in fact you think that. Although I don't like the guy and have little if any respect for him, I certainly understand where he's coming from having held my nose to go to the post to which you object.
