Maria Teresa Kumar: "Guess what Bernie? You still can't catch a cab in DC if you're Black or Latino"

In a discussion on MSNBC she just pointed this out. I mean he's making it seem like that was a thing 20 years ago. No sir its not. Its still a very real reality in 2016 and thus highlights why he is struggling with Black voters. I think he is aware of systemic racism and wants find ways to combat it, but the way he needs to talk about it and other racial issues to resonate with Black folk is not hitting the mark.

I believe he used that example which he stated occurred 20 years ago- as one of his blind spots. In other words, he did not realize or it had never occurred to him that one couldn't get a cab because of their color- he was blind to it.

He was not saying that it was something that was a thing of the past.

Hillary never admitted she had any.

I get that story was from 20 years ago, but he left it at 20 years ago, as if thats not an issue today. The follow up to that as someone who understands is that its still hard to catch a cab in DC if you are Black and Latino. But yes, it was an issue about blindspots and thats clearly still a blindspot.

Why didn't you address that? All you have done is continue to criticize Sanders for his answer while ignoring Hillary's non-answer. I don't know why you feel that Sanders needed to expound more on his answer why HRC seems to get a free pass from you

I have not forgotten her racial dog whistling when she was running against Obama in 2008. Its why I'm undecided.

If all those corpse and banks are so helpful to blacks and brown people why aren't they helping right now? Seriously do you people think about anything?

I haven't watched msnbc in a while now, she was one of the few correspondents that I really liked. I always thought she was fair minded, not so sure now. In either case, she's wrong.

No. With a law? No. It's already illegal.

BTW, I'm very sure Sanders is very aware of difficulties with cabs.

When are we going to stop pretending that anything Sanders does or doesn't do is going to change this?

I s'pose, becuase he was talking of when he realized he had a blind spot, I never heard Hillary say a one.
