(39,451 posts)It's sad. Having msnbc on in the background all day every day in my house is a hard habit to break.

Channel 348 on DirecTV and 9415 on DISH-- it is owned by the viewers, not the corporations AND no commercials.

(39,451 posts)And Bill Press when I can. He comes on a 4 am here in AZ. Too early for me.

(15,359 posts)It should be called "America's Worst 55". Other than FSTV and RT, I have FOX "News" which I have on right now.
I donated to FSTV awhile back. It's not the greatest but it might turn into something if we support it.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)RT. I am retired and usually just leave it on Al Jazeera for background and am going to miss them. And I donate to FSTV and hope they can bring in more news to fil the gap of AJ going out the end of April.

(1,342 posts)Right now, instead of watching MSNBC, I am watching RTTV with Thom Hartmann. Comcast channel 81 (for me).

(15,558 posts)They're were just trying to appeal to a wider demo than fox. Rachel is window dressing. Stopped watching her long ago.
loudsue
(14,087 posts)that she doesn't have a clue where her values are anymore. In fact, the mainstream media -- of which MSNBC is certainly one -- is so repugnant to me I can't tolerate more than about 3 minutes. I just have to change channels or turn off the tube.
cleanhippie
(19,705 posts)Now that she's a big-wig on a National network, she's become exactly who she wasn't years ago.
KO made the smartest move and left politics altogether. But he sure is missed.

(46,585 posts)I share your disappointment in Rachel. I was once a huge fan and it saddens me that she's not even making an effort to appear impartial.
Kittycat
(10,493 posts)I gave up on msnbc.
We've been out of our cable contract since November. At this point I just need to find out where our shows are on streaming and dump it. We have Amazon and Netflix, and access to adding anything else we need through apps. Cable news certainly isn't worth it, or the 3000+ channels we never watch.
AtomicKitten
(46,585 posts)Love Roku. I occasionslly livestream cable but it gets on my last nerve quickly. Democracy Now has their own channel M through F and I never miss it. We have Netflix and love it. Plus it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

(154,021 posts)I have to have ONE of these on due to work... but if CNN goes down, I will have to try FOX, though I am toying with just doing it and getting the AP wire. I am that discusted. I sent MSNBC an email, after the divorce with MHP, and told then why. If they bothered to print it, I know it is at the bottom of a bird's cage.

(3,373 posts)not pretend to be unbiased, but I've gone from a nightly viewer to no longer watching her over the past months.
She'll be watchable again after the primary, I hope. Maybe it will take a Cruz administration to make her show good again.

(15,435 posts)Rachel Maddow was all in for Hillary! People told me I was wrong! Don't think so!
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)via the internet. I've pretty much given up on her, because she covers somewhat oddball things. And then there was her infatuation with Claire McCaskill, Democratic Senator from Missouri. A year or so back she seemed to be very much encouraging McCaskill to run for President, basically praising her as a wonderful liberal. Which McCaskill is not. That's what started to turn me off Rachel, and now I happily live without her.
Too bad, because she used to be very good.

(10,803 posts)When they gassed Olbermann, I cancelled MSNBC and told them so.
I've watched the odd video online (Rachel or Lawrence O'Donnell sometimes) and saw a stream of some of the debates they've had.
Otherwise, I haven't really missed it.
I can't watch the Sunday shows anymore as they seem about 70-80% Republican.
In July, fed up with cable news, I cancelled cable tv. I couldn't take it any more. So much garbage.
I stream the sports I want online. And I cruise the top news sites on the net - including a number that are not US because, quite frankly, they're not as biased and often better/objective or kind of refreshing. I feel better informed and I get informed when I feel like it - not when the nightly news comes on and I'm trying to eat.
I haven't missed it and I think I'm getting a better bang for my time and entertainment.

WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)It may be over the top to say that this election is for the future of our world, but that's what's at stake.
There's revolution in the air all around the world against corporations.
Bernie and I are the same age and have been fighting the same battles for years, you might say that we went to different schools together and we see the need for radical change, this country has been going down the wrong road for way to long now.
I urge us all to speak out in public and speak out often. This country is going fascist and I don't mean just the corporations and the media, a good percentage of the people are as well.
Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
mythology
(9,527 posts)Sanders isn't going to win. Yes the edge is small in absolute terms, but think how many double digit wins it took to get that. Then look at the remaining states and where is Sanders going to match that?
Getting pissed at Maddow for seeing that is silly. She has regularly covered Sanders, had him on her show, talked about his rise in the polls.

(5,510 posts)It is so much more professional & the calmness is refreshing! Discussion is actually reasonable.
Comcast had put down the edict at MSNBC, it seems. Just b4 the primaries began, all the anchors there made a huge & visible shift to promoting Hillary & downplaying/downtalking Bernie or O'Malley. I'm done w/ them. However, I do believe that is the ultimate goal Comcast is hoping to achieve....run off viewership by becoming Faux Noise Light. They can then shut down the channel & we are left w/no left-leaning news media. Conservative media is all the nation easily has access to watch. This will automatically shift the populous even farther to the right by default.

There is such an anti-Bernie bias in the media. Our Detroit NPR station might as well be a Hillary commercial half the time.

We, too, get Ed (miss him lots on tv) Thom Hartmann, Ring of Fire, The Young Turks. I can't find RT for America. It's a Russian outfit. Odd, isn't it? I wonder when MSNBC recognizes they broadcasting to an empty room.

(894 posts)But, I do feel Rachel has gotten lost in the game of politics for this campaign.
She seems more involved in the horse race instead of the issues behind them. Forest for the Trees thing going on.
Sad though. When she actually handles an issue (Like Flint), she is very thorough.

(86 posts)Judging from her sharp tilt toward the establishment - I'm guessing Rachel Maddow is trying to set herself up for the NBC Nightly News gig. While it is a logical step in her career and I applaud her efforts and excellent reporting - recently and in the past, it is hard to watch MSNBC turn to the right. Next thing we'll be seeing ads for buying gold!!
corbettkroehler
(1,898 posts)I don't know which member of the Comcast executive team decided to tilt MSNBC toward Hillary but I had to turn it off until Bernie wins the primary. Intolerable yellow journalism! Although seldom accurate, the Faux News slogan is what America needs, "We report, you decide"

(262 posts)Ever since Keith was let go I knew things were happening. Found out that MSNBC exec was replaced by a more conservative guy
Then Ed Schultz was let go because he dissed the Keystone pipeline. I've noticed many other changes. Chris Hayes is terrible to watch anymore. I believe the commentators like Rachel and Chris Hayes want to have a job so they do what the new exec tells them to talk about. That"s my opinion.

(50,983 posts)But for a long while now we have recognized her blatant bias. All of MSNBC has moved way to the right. Now their credibility is gone. But that's okay because I wasn't going to watch them anyway. But I feel badly for people that believe they are a reliable source, because they are not a reliable source.
