(23,730 posts)Do Democrats talk like this? Relax your body and you will hear your Dick and Balls make only one noise continuously. It says "Bernie, Bernie, Bernie." This is not making Sanders supporters look good. This thread should be locked but this particular post stinks of misogyny and should be hidden.
JURY RESULTS
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Mar 11, 2016, 12:33 AM, and the Jury voted 4-3 to HIDE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: The poster has obviously been caught off guard by the non-stop right wing spectacular this place has become thanks to the caliber of posters here now and their non-stop onslaught against Hillary. But getting caught up still has consequences and the consequence is that I'm voting to hide this post because it's vile. What would really be grand is if the Bernie supporters showed half as much decency when asked to serve on juries and did the same against the many vile anti-Hillary posts we've all been seeing. Betting this one will be a slam dunk, maybe even 7-0 which kind of speaks to how one-sided and lost this place is now.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

(58,283 posts)I wasn't on that jury, but I imagine some jurors thought it was demeaning to all Hillary supporters, which is not appropriate on a Democratic site, even as a joke. It implies any support of Hillary is prompted by a woman's sex organ rather than her brain, which is horribly sexist. And it basically diminishes all.women to nothing more than a vagina.
Now please give one plausible explanation of the 7-0 hide over a picture of Beyonce...other than alert stalking of SheShe2.

Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)That it was Beyonce doing the flipping off, or even that her original intent was a protest against police shootings of blacks, isn't relevant to the hide. All that post contained was the pic of Beyonce flipping off the camera...which I'd say makes the obvious intent a "fuck you" to the poster it replied to. The day it becomes A-OK here to respond to a post with "fuck you" will be the day it's obviously time to leave, at least for anyone looking for substantive discussion. If I want a shit-slinging contest, there's 4chan /pol/. No alert stalking or biased jurors (or legit discussion, for the most part) there...just fire away.
SunSeeker
(58,283 posts)We are both Hillary supporters and were conversing in the Hillary Group. SheShe2 was not flipping me off! She liked my post with video of Beyonce doing Formation at the Superbowl. Hence the word "Boom!" in her subject line. The picture of Beyonce was from Beyonce's official video of Formation.

(10,164 posts)When I read the contents of your post, after getting to the reply via the link in this thread, I didn't notice what forum or group it was in. I've never visited either the Hillary or the Bernie groups (not interested in either one), and wouldn't have known if the reply was from a regular or an about-to-be-banned-from-the-group intruder. The reply seemed like a blunt "fuck you" to an inoffensive post. That "Boom" had no obvious meaning to me.
Glad it wasn't really a personal attack. Seriously tired of that shit at DU...

(10,164 posts)Just because the original image was something positive doesn't make using a pic of someone flipping off the camera okay when the utterly obvious intent was to say "fuck you" to the poster. If doing that is okay, then why bother having personal insults against the ToS at all? DU might as well become the 4chan Politics board.

(130,532 posts)and that a lot of us are old? All my old lady friends are, like me, for Bernie. Same for the young women I know (in fact, I don't know anyone of any age or gender who's for Hillary). I'm all in favor of encouraging and supporting women in politics, but they have to be women I can support on their merits. The implication that if a woman does not support Hillary she is somehow a traitor to her gender is really offensive. I have no doubt that sexist things have been and will be said about Hillary and that sucks, but it's not a good reason to vote for her.
PyaarRevolution
(814 posts)By that I wish she wouldn't, in action, display behavior more representation of Patriarchy and males in particular. She should be taking actions that represent long term gains over short. Generally women do this which is why the Iroquois nation was the big stable Indian nation and generally stayed in one place. They had the idea of "7 Generations". What this meant was they thought about how a decision would effect things 7 generations down the line.
Frankly I think Bernie behaves more in this fashion.
So vote because Hillary is a women/mother? Is that it?

Odd to consider Callas and Nancy Reagan together. Imagine them at lunch, having no idea in hell what to say across the table to each other.

This whole women are going to hell if they don't do X, just sounds so Fundy to me. Are we sure THEY are actually Democats? They aren't acting like liberals or Democrats. That forum may be taken over by women of the extreme religious right. They may try to take over more ground on DU and try to ban Democratic thought altogether. Over at the Grand Old Party, they are ripping apart at the seems as xenophobic nativists and religious bigots vie with country club Republicans. There is a lot of speculation in the more speculative reaches of the punditocracy that their party my break into two or three pieces.
Meanwhile, if our conversation at DU is any indication, the Dems might well also split into two very different political organizations. Sanders and his supporters will become a traditional European style Social Democratic Party. Hillary and her supporters will establish the Passive Aggressive Party.

(45,984 posts)As an attempt of writing something poetic, the writer fails because the logic that holds it together is simple sophistry. Hillary is a woman; your mother is a women; therefore, you should vote for Mrs. Clinton. To say the least, that is that not a valid syllogism.
Perhaps I missed something, but I haven't seen a really misogynistic post here in a long time. If I am asked to sit in judgment of such a post about a woman running for president )or doing anything else, for that matter), I vote to hide it, even if the woman targeted is one I believe would make a poor president.
I appreciate the level of emotion the writer feels for the women of the earth. There probably isn't a woman alive anywhere who hasn't been slighted in some way simply for being a woman. Nevertheless, that won't persuade me to support a woman who takes train loads of money from crooked Wall Street banks and make a ridiculous statement about not being influenced by it. It's not likely to persuade any one who isn't already persuaded to vote for Mrs. Clinton.
Frankly, Willy, the post didn't really seem offensive enough to bother with a response to it. For one thing, it's election year, after all, or as President Obama likes to call it, "silly season." Fir another, it's in a protected group where people can write something that and not worry about some one with a different opinion. On the other hand, since you bring it up, those are my thoughts.

I have been an avid feminist since the 1960s, and I would love to see a woman president before I shuffle off this mortal coil. But HRC is too tied to the corporations and banks and to endless wars. I am a woman, I supported Hillary in 2008 - in the years that followed, I did my due diligence on the internet, and I cannot support a PERSON who supports war, fracking, the TPP, sends children back to central America - after they thought they were safe!, no less! - to die, is a protege of blood-soaked Kissinger, thinks cluster bombs are just fine, lies with impunity, deliberately - those are just a few reason I do not support that PERSON.
I would have been thrilled to vote for Warren; I am thrilled to vote for Bernie - today, actually, my grandson and I will be "early voting" here in Florida.
Hillary's campaign was rolled out using the gender card - "of course all women will vote for her" - and kept it up, with lists like yours being used to deflect from actual issues. As a woman, I find that insulting and condescending, and so tone-deaf that I cannot imagine Hillary as a president.

Well, I can tell them. They threw those values away when they got behind Hillary.
