Sanders Backers Optimistic, and Generous, After Michigan Miracle
By defying the polls, Sanders has given his supporters another reason to donate and renewed hope for his campaign, even in states like Florida.

Nancy Jones, a 52-year-old community organizer from Gainesville, Florida was sure Bernie Sanders was going to lose in Michigan.
Oh my gosh, I didnt even want to turn on the news that night because I was so afraid that it was gonna say he lost by 20 points, Jones said Thursday morning at a Sanders rally in her hometown. When I finally turned it on I couldnt believe it and I was up until almost one in the morning watching the returns come in.
That night she donated $27 to his campaign.
Jones is one of thousands of Sanders supporters who, buoyed by his surprise win in Michigan Tuesday night, decided to open her checkbook once more to the Vermont senators long-shot campaign. In the 28 hours after the polls closed in Michigan, the Sanders campaign raised more than $5 million from 175,216 contributions, according to Sanders communications director Michael Briggs.
Theres a lot of positive momentum going around through online social media amongst the Bernie supporters, said Susan Perrier, an unemployed 59-year-old from Winterhaven, Florida attending a rally in nearby Kissimmee. Those of us who really believe, were trying not to listen to the media.
