(11,785 posts)'Cause nothing says "brilliant" like saying something that makes voters wonder whether you're losing your marbles or just a shameless liar.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)But I do agree.
Add that to the list including Kissinger.

(19,460 posts)Since the GOP contenders seem to want to run on Reagan's record, it is only fair Reagan's record be brought to light in all of its non glory.

(42,862 posts)This will just piss off the Hillary-haters even MORE! (But, hey, at least they've forgotten about those damn transcripts. Whew!)

(36,437 posts)It's just more evidence that Hillary is terrible at the campaigning part of politics.
How you step in it like this before the Florida and Illinois primaries is anyone's guess. She likely lost both those states with this nonsense.
The problem, of course, is that Sanders is deeply unqualified with more than a little of the demagogue about him, so we really are in a pickle now.
One thing's for sure: we won't have a President as good as Obama for the foreseeable future.

(10,650 posts)Hillary screwed up. She told one lie too many. Deal with it.
The focus isn't on Reagan's record. We all know that. The focus is on Hillary's inability to get the truth out of her mouth.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)by praising them for their actions. She has always been a big fan of Reagan, which I think is very scary.

(8,352 posts)None, zilch, zip, nadda, and it is truly sad and cringe-worthy.
Hillary lied. She got caught and offered the politician's standard non-apology 'misspoke' line.
No she did not make Reagan's record the focus, she made herself and the eve growing list of blatant lies the focus.
Vinca
(54,330 posts)I figured she must be pandering to Reagan lovers in hopes of getting some GOP votes. The remark was completely wrong and totally revolting. I don't know how people can support her.

(45,850 posts)but if you need clarification there's an HBO movie called 'The Normal Heart' that'll fill you in on Reagan's 'action' during the 1980's where aids was concerned

(12,041 posts)Oh wait, I forgot that Reagan is not running.
I guess this might help Hillary win the "uninformed and proud of it" vote though.
TSIAS
(14,689 posts)I believe you said that Reagan's expiration would kill any momentum Sanders had from Maine. Well, of course there was that epic upset two days later in Michigan.
I'll give you credit for turning anything into an anti-Clinton or pro-Hillary talking point.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)Hillary actually increased her pledged delegate lead by 24 after the Tuesday results.

TSIAS
(14,689 posts)After doing so awful at the debate, and with Nancy Reagan buying it, you would have thought Hillary would have done better than expected in Michigan. The results in MS were on par with how the primary had been playing out and wasn't a surprise.
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)So I don't think she ever had the lead in Michigan. The turnout models sucked and the data was bad. Garbage in, garbage out.
I thought she would win by about 5 points in Michigan, but she lost by 1.5 points.
However, I didn't think she would win in Mississippi by as much as she did so it more than offset her Michigan loss.
I thought she would net about 25 delegates on Tuesday, but she net 24.
Not too shabby.

(24,979 posts)I mean, you could just let this epically stupid and entirely self-inflicted damage blow over. You're just a writer on a message board, there's no need for you to have a position on it. The news cycle will take care of it, right? There's absolutely nothing to be won by dwelling on it.
But nooooooo... it's almost like Stalinism, with only the reassuring parts, none of the fear or pressure or pain. Onl the harmony of broup think! But also the creativity that each cog gets to express, as you autonomously come up with awesome whopper explanations for why Comrade HRC raised the chocolate ration and has always raised the chocolate ration.

(12,401 posts)There's no political gain from her comments.
No excuse for her comments. None.
She basically spit in the face of every soul lost during those horrific Reagan denial years, and their loved ones. This isn't just a little faux pas today, this awful statement will stick to her like chewing gum to the cat. Deservedly so.
