(68,918 posts)Way over the top. Even though many Hillary supporters think I am "less than" a woman for not supporting a woman who does not support my values, I will not stoop to that.

(14,255 posts)Can't help thinking, though, that "Fuck her" will most likely bring out howls of sexism!!!!, but a "fuck him" button would likely be seen as a'right, free speech, etc.
Just, no.

But on a button (or patch or bumper sticker or...)? Crass.

i have gone against the grain here on du, supporting the protesters @ trump events but
if this had been the language on the signs, i would feel differently

(11,076 posts)...ya know, Hillary isn't very nice and some people may not be able to look past that. She has said and done some downright awful things.

(3,017 posts)Nor do I want to hear Hillary and her supporters in the corporate media and at DU whining because one of Bernie's supporters (maybe, could be Clinton dirty tricks to change the subject from her ongoing implosion) is out of line.

(12,655 posts)if its to express disdain at the clinton campaign, its their option, although i would not personally wear one. if the goal is to grab undecideds and get them to rethink bernie, i doubt it would accomplish that.

As evidenced by the responses here, I don't see these playing to a large group.

(68,918 posts)it was merely a comment toward your post. I am not as affected by this election season as the more vocal supporters on both sides of this battle.
On edit: I spent a good amount of time in the archives this morning, and I miss those times. Be well.

But when the candidate accuses Sanders of supporting the disappearing of people? nah. Wear whatever buttons you want.

(819 posts)Sanders appeal to me is to dream big, discuss issues and better ourselves. The bigger issue is that if it were Establishment or F Buying Off /Owning Politicians, I could overlook.
Campaigners should not wear that if promoting Bernie.

pdsimdars
(6,007 posts)It has to do with people's 1st amendment rights. Don't put that kind of talking point haze on it.
femmedem
(8,561 posts)I didn't mean to imply that Bernie's campaign is behind it. I'm sure it isn't. But the OP asked what we thought of the button, and I'm a fervent Bernie supporter who thinks the button would turn undecided voters away from Bernie.
Not sure what it has to do with first amendment rights. I think people have a right to wear them. But I think the consequence of wearing them is to turn people away from Bernie, or away from politics in general.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)is a reflection on our candidate. We FINALLY have the candidate of a lifetime who has integrity and none of the negative history of others. Let's ALL take the High Road because it will only help Bernie.

pdsimdars
(6,007 posts)otherwise it has NOTHING to do with him. It has to do with people's first amendment rights as guaranteed in our constitution. Stop trying to tell people what to think and what to do. That is nonsense.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)your butt off for only to have immature, reckless 'supporters' not only undo your hard work but turn them to the opposition? I've been around a long time and guarantee this only hurts Bernie. A complete lack of respect along with a lack of maturity and discretion alienates voters. Period.

Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)They are classless, and poor messaging at best. No doubt.
I would hope that as Bernie supporters we can do better.
But people absolutely DO have a "right" to wear them. I know there is a gaggle of perpetually outraged folks who hate the 1st Amendment, but it still applies.

(230 posts)it's something that reflects poorly on the Sanders campaign - like it or not. As a Sanders supporter, there's too much of this happening and I get tired of defending this junk instead of Bernie's platform. *Fire away*

(57,349 posts)Including a post calling him a "motherfucker" that was allowed to stand.
So when it comes to class Hillary supporters are living in a very transparent and already cracked glass house.
Doesn't reflect badly on Bernie any more than the ugly things said about him reflect badly on Hillary.
Welcome to silly season.

(88 posts)disdain without cheapening the expression with vulgarity. In my generation, almost extinct, admittedly, that word was never uttered in mixed company and certainly not in public.
TwilightGardener
(46,416 posts)I wouldn't wear such a button, and no campaign in its right mind would come up with that. The Clintons obviously feel that going after people who vote for Bernie works better than going after Bernie himself--and then in November, where we gonna go? "You simply CAN'T vote for Trump!".

I am happy to keep supporting Bernie without going negative on her.
As an aside, I love the side-zipper top on which the buttons are residing.
I have seen this style before and just love it. But, haven't seen it in a store yet.

Hopefully it's only put on at political events . Not general population material
nolabels
(13,133 posts)When you have to go to a friends house or the library for access, then more often than not you become a dupe for M$M.
General population, as a rule, i would think would indicate a free society that decides themselves. But the only thing corporate America would like the general population to decide is their hat size.
Outright sexuality would seem to me would be thing to turn most away, for reason, because it's of a personal nature and not to be decided with a crowd in attendance observing whatever it is.
So yea, that particular word, seems to have acquired more meanings and understandings than would of originally thought. So when will we be able to agree that eventually vulgarity runs in everyone's train of thought?

(6,007 posts)There are a lot of people in here wanting to tell people what to think and what to do. Saying there is some link to this and Sander's campaign. No, there isn't. That is only a talking point.
I say we are better, stronger, when we don't change our behavior trying to react to talking points. Otherwise, they keep making things up to control your behavior.
I may think it is tasteless, or cute, or whatever, but it reflects on that person only. You can't let your life be ruled on the opinions of others, or you are their puppet and just as weak and lame as all those GOP followers who need the strong leader to tell them what to do.
Get over it. It may not be YOUR taste, but you have no right to control the taste of anyone else, through your guilt or shaming.
