My parents are lifelong democrats, in their 80s. I am a solid supporter of Bernie Sanders. Guess who my parents are planning to vote for in the primary...?
They're jumping to Trump. Go the fuck figure, but they think Hillary doesn't represent them and that Bernie is too old. How sad is that?...
So, DemocraticUnderground... get over your fecking selves! You clearly have no feel for the pulse of America in 2016 and as you choose to make your declarations and pleas to Skinner tonight, to purge all non-Hillary supporters... just remember...
You just might not have your finger on the pulse of what's REALLY happening in the world right now... Particularly in America, among millennials and octogenarians...and everyone in between!

(11,546 posts)and we've been trying to tell them but they're too busy calling us whiny babies. Evidently wanting true progressive change is too hard and being a whiny child.

(8,028 posts)Yeah, me too. My parents are 83 an 82 respectively.
As lifelong democrats, they've lost friends, made enemies and alienated siblings with their staunch Democratic leanings in a red state like Utah....
...and now they're voting for Trump.
So, laugh it up. The world is changing and if you think you really understand what's happening, I'm here to tell you that you don't.

(2,241 posts)You may think the world is changing, but it isn't. You don't understand what is happening.
You should have made your parents younger, it would have been more believable.

(1,223 posts)has Du ever really been representative of what is going on "out there"? I've been around since I broke my stone underwear falling off my dinosaur and it's never been very representative.

As for Skinner, I doubt anything will change on DU until HRC clinches it.

My parents ARE in a home... Their own home; where they'll live out their lives according to their own dictates while they continue to exercise their right to vote for the person that best represents their best interests...according to them.
Ah, but thanks again for your kind and considerate concern.
I'll still be caucusing for Bernie on March 22.

(5,636 posts)... just as a small number want to suggest the Hillary supporters are right wing.
Frankly, it's damn clear that the Democratic Party with Bernie is far better than it is without Bernie. If he wins, great, but even if he loses, he is helping the Democrats get their identity back, which is necessary if the Democrats want to control the White House and Congress again.

(23,720 posts)Tell them one day someone will think that way about them. People will think they can't do something because they're too old. Tell them is usually starts with their children. For example: I wanted to learn to ride my son's hover board recently, he told me no, cause I might break a hip. I'm only 57, I really resent that he already thinks of me as frail and feeble. They will too, I guarantee it.

Honestly the biggest problem with the Dems is the candidates that are in the field. I love Bernie and voted for him in FL, but I'm originally from VT, but I even worry about his age, that office ages everyone so very much (and 8yrs?). Hillary isn't liked by many people. My husband had no one he wanted to vote for and skipped the primary today.... And with all the Trump crap on tv, he has an affinity towards some of the things he says... Given a choice this fall, he'd be a Dem, voting for Trump.
He's got the anger part down. People are angry. He's not responsibly harnessing the anger like Bernie has, but so few know anything about him still due to media black out... The only one who hasn't gotten
Live speech coverage on our bay news 9
When I've had to listen to trump several times the last few days...
When people are angry, things can go ugly quickly... This country could get extremely worse for everyone.
