2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDoes anyone know what Jeff Weaver and Tad Devine are getting paid?
I heard that they are drawing $500K a piece and they have a vested interest in keeping this going for as long as they can.

(30,518 posts)The biggest argument was over running as a Democrat. Over and over, Bernie Sanders said he didnt want to. Hed spent his whole life purposefully outside the Democratic Party. He treasured his status as the longest-serving independent in Congress. Running as a Democrat wasnt who he was. He didnt want to do it that way.
His longtime consultant Tad Devine and the rest of the group came down hard: this is never going to have a chance of working unless you get over it. Suck it up, they told him.
-------
Devine spoke toward the end. Reading notes off a yellow legal pad that hed brought, he went deep in the mechanicsthe pointlessness of running as a message candidate, the calendar, the states theyd need to win, the $40-50 million they figured theyd need to raise by Iowaa number that sounded high at the time.
Tad was super f--king organized, said one person who attended. There had been a ton of thought that had gone into this.

(7,393 posts)That's what honorable pols do. But I have a feeling he will continue to try to entice folks to give money. I saw a story in Politico or something similar that showed half his donations came from people without a job. So it would be nice if he was honest with them. IMO.

(3,022 posts)you are a donor? I ask because I've seen this sentiment expressed several times today, but never from anyone who actually has made a donation to Senator Sanders campaign. If you fall into that category your opinion is really just gross speculation.

(10,493 posts)That Bernie is doing so great. I'm thrilled that he is out there re-engerizing so many voters that haven't been heard by our party leaders in a long time. Even better, he's engaging with new voters, even when the DNC wasn't all that interested in them. This is great for the party, and great for the democratic cause. For so long we've had to pull right, and beg at the corporate trough, because our base has widdled away. He's proving we don't have to do that. Imagine if Hillary would have engaged her base or decided to have a straight forward converstion to make some changes vs the program she opted to go with. Really, imagine what a great place our party would be in right now.
Instead of beating us up with sticks, how about considering some of the great things that could be possible. The republicans aren't looking so hot right now my friend. We're sitting over here with millions of mobilized and energetic supporters on a mission for serious change in this country. And donors? We have donors. Each one of us has a vested interest with boots on the ground. $27 freaking dollars, can you believe it? And all they have is a ticking time bomb. We're they're worst nightmare. LOL.

(26,507 posts)put a doubt in the minds of Bernie supporters so that they stop donating to Bernie's campaign. Nothing stops a campaign in its tracks like the lack of funding. It's Hillary's way of shutting down Bernie. Hillary never expected this race to go this far. She overspent in the early primaries to seal the deal. She didn't expect Bernie to be so strong of a candidate. She's running out of funds because her donors have reached their donation limit. She didn't think Bernie would be able to raise the money that he's been raising by refusing to go with a SuperPac. He fooled her. He has a well funded campaign because of the millions of donors that believe in him and keep him well funded with individual donations averaging $27.00.
So posts like this one are hoping to stop Bernie's funding by making his donors think they are throwing good money after bad. Don't fall for it folks. Don't let them con you.
A donation for Bernie will keep him in this contest and let voters all around the country have a say in this nomination process. We can't let just one segment of this great nation (the South) make the choice for the whole nation.
We must continue to fund Bernie's efforts to give All Americans a say.
Know that you are throwing good money after good. Bernie is a good man with integrity that will right this country that's been taken over by the 1%er's, Banksters and Corporatists.
Go Bernie!!!
Feel the Bern!!!!
