2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWell Bernie is going to be on Rachael Maddow's show in a few minutes.
I hear the Bernie folks don't watch Rachael any more.
Damn media blackout anyway!

(10,164 posts)Why on earth would I say that about a Sanders supporter? That makes no sense...
But back to the actual point: it's the enemy camp because Maddow has been all-in for Hillary this cycle. I should have thought that was the obvious interpretation of my usage of "enemy." Apologies* if that wasn't clear.
* And I mean that: you're one of the minority of Hillary supporters I've encountered over the last few days who hasn't been a complete and utter douchenozzle. I'm trying my best to be properly selective in my snark.

(30,481 posts)In one shot you removed Silverman and KM from the progressive pool. I simply don't get that part of your argument. I view Maddow as a progressive. I believe most do.
With my extreme dislike of the media I would be more succeptable as to who writes her check. Even then I believe she backs up her progressive credential each night. Not many of them left on the larger networks.
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)Only about Maddow. My statement about money changing her can't be validly interpreted to extend to anyone else. That's why your extrapolation was a bit confusing. It simply doesn't follow.

JUST SENT BERNIE ANOTHER... $FIFTY BUCKS!

(16,254 posts)Shame on them. That makes me all the more determined to help Bernie reach the Oval Office and rub it in their faces.
How did so many get so much power? Sure isn't anything like the days of Walter Cronkite and those of his caliber. Of course, if Cronkite was still reporting, the campaign wouldn't be this filthy and corrupted. He'd shame them like their grandfather, as people didn't tolerate Trump type talk.

Hmmm... the symbolic candidate making a race out of this, crystal clear why she and the establishment want him to tap out. Quite embarrassing.

(1,508 posts)And from reading the comments here...I'd say I made a good choice. I hear Dish network is going to drop them. I'll be sure to call them and ask them to do it ASAP.

(10,164 posts)Yeah, yeah, I know...goddamn Portland hipsters!
And I do actually watch TV...but only Netflix and soccer game streams, really. TV news is a joke; online sources are superior for political news.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)to waste my money. I'm thinking about going to local and streaming myself. There usually isn't anything worth watching on anyway. I mostly keep my Dish connection for my grandchildren, they like to watch different things when they are over, and it keeps them quiet while I visit with my daughter and son-law. I know, poor excuse for keeping it. As I said before, it won't be much longer. Tired of wasting money.
IdaBriggs
(10,559 posts)And so much cheaper than Dish! We put up a nice antenna for free local stations and do the streaming thing.

(10,559 posts)Antenna for the free local stations (good for emergency info) and listen to them as to what works best in your area. I made the mistake of going to Best Buy first and spent more money than I needed to - doh!

I don't watch much TV anymore since I don't have one, but MSNBC is one of the few things that I watch on my computer. The other options that are available require a subscription so I'm happy that I have any news coverage.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)I don't watch much news on M$M. I generally get my news on Free Speech TV. I love Democracy Now. I liked Al Jazeera News, but I believe that station will be leaving the air soon also. I'll stick with Democracy Now and other shows on Free Speech TV. Much better news. I also see I can stream that station so I believe I will be removing my service and go to streaming either over computer or through my TV set.

(2,145 posts)I don't get that. I guess the few who do have no ability to discern between fair and unbiased reporting (even commentary) and total bias. If one thing could be said to have taken away our democracy, it would be main stream media.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)What I have been seeing on MSNBC lately is not what I call journalism, it has been Faux News lite. Politics at every moment with a few breaking news stories every now and then when something dramatic happens in the nation. You know, things like another mass shooting, another killing of an unarmed minority, or something like this. International news, news of what is happening in other nations that can be applied to what is happening here....doesn't happen. I'm through with the M$M. I am constantly searching the web for real news, and am finding it. I continue to think, of Jon Stewart when I wonder about the news. His show talked more in detail about the news than the actual news. That should tell the viewing public something.

(19,053 posts)Just before he left I got the distinct feeling that there was dis-ease between him and Rachel. I was left with the impression that she was playing the game to climb the ladder, where as Keith had principles. Rachel's shilling for Hillary has only galvanized those beliefs.

(2,145 posts)as most of us who are working for an authentic, productive, and trustworthy Bernie Sanders well know. BTW, you a subscriber to the now infamous NY-raggedy journalism - Times? If that's what you think is good journalism, yes, you would probably appreciate a no-netneutrality -no-Bernie Maddow. I haven't watched her for years. I caught on - like a lot of really smart people -to her raggedy journalism years ago. She sold out a long time ago. Catch up.

(46,179 posts)Because I don't watch talk shows of any sort on tv.
I sometimes see video clips if a guest is someone I have an interest in. It's rare. I actually see more clips during a primary season than in the previous 4 years combined.
