2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm hoping Bill stays away from the caucus in my precinct.
If he shows up, bullhorn in hand, I will first ask security/police to keep him at the minimum distance from the building. And I will insist he stay out of the building unless he is a registered Washington State voter. Since I am the precinct captain, he cannot prevent me from allowing all voters who have arrived and registered to vote.
I hope other precinct volunteers and/or captains do the same. His shit has gotten stale.

You don't make sense; and you seem bitter about other
peoples successes.
The Clintons worked all their lives: and put their lives on line for
their country for most of their lives: They have
earned every penny. (which they have only had in their 50's)
Also, most of their money goes to charity and helping
Dem's.

They have NEVER put any skin in the game.
What a ridiculous post.
After they were criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs, televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left, the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of gifts, or nearly half the amount.
Their latest decision to send back $28,000 in gifts brings to $114,000 the value of items the Clintons have either decided to pay for or return.
McDaniel discussed the matter Wednesday with Betty Monkman, the White House curator, and Gary Walters, the chief usher, or executive manager of the White House.
They were reviewing the gifts the Clintons chose to keep after $28,000 worth of items were found on a list of donations the Park Service received for the 1993 White House redecoration project. The Washington Post this week quoted three people who said that they assumed the furnishings they donated for the project would stay in the White House.

(39,215 posts)back as they are part of why people cannot vote. One man and a bullhorn would not disrupt voting but one man with an entourage can. They get in the way.
I realize that their job is to protect him but does that include helping him to obstruct voting?

(11,366 posts)I'd be pissed if I were waiting hours to vote because of his security detail and glad-handing. He has all day to do nothing, many people need to vote so they can get to work or school or home to take care of children.
He shouldn't be so smug.

(94,561 posts)Second, I'm not sure there will be police at a Caucus site.
Third, Washington State uses the Iowa Caucus procedure, which allow a short speech in support of the candidate. In some States, those speeches have been delivered at a precinct by the candidate or their surrogate.

(39,215 posts)Tuesday and when Illinois was voting. I am 74 years old and not real computer savvy. But I can and do read most of the posts on DU.
Bill showed up at three Boston polling places during voting hours along with his entourage and at one event went into the polling place while the SS stopped people from coming in. Later in Chicago there was a story that he was at it again.
When you are handicapped, elderly, have to get back to work or to your children and someone interrupts the voting it makes it hard for many to vote.
We have never had this kind of irresponsible actions in any campaign and we do not need it now. If she cannot win without this then too bad.

(46,436 posts)presidential candidates and/or their spouses NEVER come here (unless they're named Palin, in which case we had no choice).
Incidentally, the only TV ads I've seen here prior to our caucus, which will be Saturday, are some very good ones from Bernie.

(146,308 posts)In Minnesota, candidates or their surrogates are actually encouraged to come and speak on their behalf. There's time in the caucus agenda for that purpose, and if a candidate shows up outside of that time, he or she will get time to speak.
At the caucus in my precinct, we had a couple of state legislative incumbent candidates come in and speak. I know both of them, so I introduced them and they made brief pitches about their candidacy.
Anyone's welcome at our caucuses, although only those who live in the precinct are eligible to vote. Our caucuses are open meetings where people are free to speak.
We did have two caucus attendees who spoke on behalf of Hillary and Bernie, as well. The rest of the attendees listened politely to them. We're a friendly state here. We don't call the police on people at our caucuses. We listen to them.
floriduck
(2,262 posts)are allowed 3 minutes total to speak on their candidates behalf. A candidate or incumbent candidate may choose to use that time. However, Bill Clinton does not meet the definition of any of these. He would be an observer, therefore, he can observe from outside the caucus building.

(21 posts)I don't care how close Clinton is from *ANY* polling place, he has no business being in there and interfering with the voter's intent.
He needs to be in New York, sleeping on his hammock.

(8,168 posts)I've seen it a few times when local candidates thought it would be nice to chit-chat with their 'buds' in line. They were thwapped pretty efficiently by the poll workers there. Seemed a little harsh, but them's the rules and one party certainly isn't going to be pleased if the other party is breaking the rules. Or in this case, inter-party squabbling can be worse than D/R tiffs.
