Hillary is on target, Bernie is further behind target.
The vast majority of us don't dislike Sanders. It's just disingenuous to suggest he's got a real, credible, path to the nomination. Hillary is up in popular vote and delegates. It's just facts. |

He won 71 delegates; she won 54. This is 1st-grade arithmetic. Apparently most reporters did not graduate 1st grade.

72. A little bit further than 1st grade will inform that to close a 304 delegate gap,
the margin of victory in the remaining states has to be much greater than yesterday. Bernie did win the day, but not by a margin great enough to significantly cut into Clinton's lead.
Unless the delegate counts are much closer or flipped from the ratio they are now, the Super Delegates are going to go the way they have indicated. One can say they don't count yet, but absent an amazing comeback, they have already given an indication of what they will do. I'm fine with either candidate and view things realistically. Sanders will need some incredible blowouts to not be in second place come the convention. |

'cause that's what he got in Idaho and Utah last night.
For the three states combined, he got 31% margin. And the upcoming states are even friendlier to Bernie. On edit: I notice you deleted mention of the 18% margin he will need going forward. |

Sanders will need an incredible comeback to invoke the "Super Delegates don't count" mantra. I wish him luck in that, but will not be holding my breath. Like I said, I'm fine with either of them. I'm not a spoiled brat, "My way or I'm taking the ball home." |

Including Democrats Abroad 2 days ago, he needed 57.5% and he has 57.6%. Not much of a buffer going forward, but it still puts him on pace, so he is hitting the appropriate numbers right now. Washington is going to be a real bellwether.

48. It is not that straight forward.
because of how the delegates are distributed. He can win 57% of the delegates in the next couple of weeks and have it all wiped out by Hillary winning NY by anything over 50%. Margin of victory in big states is the key here. In any case, the required percentage goes up with every state that he fails to meet his target. And he has to win every state to even have a chance.

50. He doesn't have to win every state to have a chance.
California alone has enough delegates to make up the difference. So even if Hillary takes 50% in NY, he could crush CA and end it right there. The possibilities are endless! Bernie outperformed UT and ID by something like 40-50%....who knows how NY and CA will look. Not to mention he bought himself a lot of time to campaign in those states. MI was won because they ran ads weeks in advance, OH was lost because they didn't until late in the game. I don't think you, me or anyone really knows how this will play out. But its fun to speculate.

53. First off he is not going to "crush" California.
Hillary right now is favored to win - you know as well as I do that Bernie does not do well in large states with diverse populations. Nothing is going to magically change that fact.
If he won CA by 20 percentage points he would net 115 delegates. He is not going to be anywhere near 200 delegates much less 115 delegates going into CA. |

56. The last poll was end of Dec in CA and it was already a close race.
So saying she's favored to win isn't saying much, that number has probably changed dramatically by now...and there are plenty of other big states in play(most also with ancient polling) before then to make up the rest.

59. That poll had Hillary as an 11 point favorite
why would it change dramatically in Bernie's favor? It is a large state with an ethnically diverse population. Bernie does not do well in states like that. That is why he is not going to "crush" CA or NY.

60. Because they all do as it gets closer to voting time?
If you haven't noticed, he tends to get at least a 10 point jump in the last 2 weeks before a vote, and there is still a good amount of time before then for him to campaign.
And he doesn't even need to crush is. Hillary people love to trot out Nate Silver predictions...well if you look at his path to victory for both Bernie and Hillary, neither wins the whole thing until CA. And Bernie will only need 14 more delegates than Hillary there to win if everything continues the way it is. Its going to be a nail biter. |

62. Did you notice that Hillary is over performing on her path to victory
while Bernie is under performing? California decides it for Bernie only if he stays on that path. Right now is straying off it. Don't forget that his targets go up every time he fails to meet a target while Hillary's targets go down as she meets her. It becomes harder for Bernie and easier for Hillary.

63. He picked up a percentage point last night.
And he is behind right now, but those projections take into account where he is right now. And it doesn't get harder for him, it gets easier because he is in friendlier territory. Hillary blew her wad already. Its just ask likely that Hillary will miss a target as it is he will at this point....its anyones game.

Arizona · 75 delegates 99% reporting · Clinton won and has 44 delegates, Sanders has 30 Idaho · 23 delegates 100% reporting · Sanders won and has 17 delegates, Clinton has 5 Utah · 33 delegates 99% reporting · Sanders won and has 24 delegates, Clinton has 5 |

that to close the gap he needs to maintain a certain overall net delegate lead from here on out. He didn't hit that overall rate last night.

39. Hillary lost Utah and Idaho and won Arizona.
Still, she's going to come out behind in delegates. And you know what? That's just fine by me, because Bernie just blew through three of twenty-five remaining contests and only closed a three hundred plus delegate lead by six.

they're using the ooool' Tea Party approach when they lost. Perfect example: Chris McDaniel of Jones County, MS. When he making a speech that's nowhere near a concession speech, he was on the verge of crying. Laughed my ass off too. Good riddens to him.
