(20,709 posts)We're never going to get to see how much ground Bernie would lose once the GOP threw the kitchen sink at him. But that's OK, we'll just have to guess.
imagine2015
(2,054 posts)But they can and will really pile on Hillary if she captures the nomination.
What she has experienced over the last 25 years is child's play compared to what's coming down the road should she be nominated.
She crumble into a pile of dust.
She has a ton of baggage.
And no matter how hard he might try, Bernie Sanders won't be able to convince and inspire younger people (those under 45) to vote and campaign for her in a massive way to make a real difference.
They are independent critical thinkers who don't have a cult like following of Bernie, they aren't robots.

(10,856 posts)Voters who actually prefer Bernie.
But, they claim that the. Republicans would eviscerate Bernie because of the S word.
Socialist......ooh, the big bad bogey man..
And, didn't he honeymoon in Russia...what's that all about?
And, isn't he Jewish?
But, he's a bad Jew who never goes to synagogue and probably doesn't really believe in God.
And, have you seen his wife...hasn't missed many meals.
And what's up wit him being so grumpy all the time?
Blah blah blah...all garbage.
He would make mincemeat of Trump in a debate and on the stump.
He would beat Trump by at least 40 states to 10.

(2,039 posts)of negative attacks like Hillary.

(11,955 posts)All those negative attacks are why Hillary's unfavorables are so high outside the Dem base. And we need more than Dem votes to win in November.
CentralCoaster
(1,163 posts)It's absurd to suggest that only after the primaries would anyone try to expose anything about him.
Be real, Hillary surrogates would be screaming from the rooftops and before that his opponents would have tried to bring him down.
There's nothing negative to say about him that hasn't been said already.
Gomez163
(2,039 posts)like they did the Willie Horton ad.
CentralCoaster
(1,163 posts)Castro and Cuba are of narrow interest to typical US voters, it's not in the news.
And to the extent that Cuba is in the news, it doesn't hurt Sanders.
Most voters don't care, and those who care are already voting for Trump.
Compared to the very real and ongoing Clinton troubles, Castro is not too worrisome.

(30,613 posts)And his lead only increases over time. Meanwhile, we better pray for Trump to be the GOP nominee if Hillary is ours, because he's the only one she can beat.

(643 posts)I just changed to an independent (I'd never vote republican of course) and it seems more and more people are doing the same every day. With so many independents out there supporting Sanders over Clinton that could make a huge difference in the poll if they were not included.

American people prefer Sanders.

(91,966 posts)determine the outcome, but continue with that mantra, and the other mantras that some on DU spew that if Hillary is the nominee they will not vote for her in the general election.
