2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt seems strange that Bernie folks would be celebrating everytime
some new media story comes out about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation or the emails or what ever is out there to destroy Hillary.
These are right wing attempts to destroy all of us. The right knows Hillary will be our nominee. As such she is our fire wall.
If they knock Hillary out they get to rule everything. The White House, the Congress and the SCOTUS
Bernie can't be helped anymore by attacking Hillary. The math is against him.

And the jury results allowing it to stand.

The reality that she is getting paid by the same people that pay the guys on the other side of the aisle?, The reality that since we have tried that and it brought us to the current situation (inequality rampant) we should try it again and hope for a different outcome? The reality that while being in "public" service they amassed a wealth of 200 million? doing what? and paid for by whom?
You want to talk about misguided? the problem with her cheersquad is that they think this is about 1 team vs another team, this is about the future of our children and about the future of this earth. Hillary Rodham Clinton was allowed to order 10 cattle futures contracts, normally a $12,000 investment, in her first commodity trade in 1978 although she had only $1,000 in her account at the time, according to trade records the White House released yesterday.
The computerized records of her trades, which the White House obtained from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, show for the first time how she was able to turn her initial investment into $6,300 overnight. In about 10 months of trading, she made nearly $100,000, relying heavily on advice from her friend James B. Blair, an experienced futures trader.
SNIP...
The new records also raise the possibility that some of her profits -- as much as $40,000 came from larger trades ordered by someone else and then shifted to her account, Leo Melamed, a former chairman of the Merc who reviewed the records for the White House, said in an interview. He said the discrepancies in Clinton's records also could have been caused by human error.
SNIP...
A close examination of her individual trades underscores Blair's pivotal role. It also shows that Robert L. "Red" Bone, who ran the Springdale, Ark., office of Ray E. Friedman and Co. (Refco), allowed Clinton to initiate and maintain many trading positions besides the first when she did not have enough money in her account to cover them.
Why would Bone do so? Bone could not be reached for comment, but Blair said he thought he knew why. "I was a very good customer," he said, noting he paid Bone $800,000 in commissions over the years. "They weren't going to hassle me. If I brought them somebody, they weren't going to hassle them."

(36,649 posts)The fact that Bernistas will happily use this RW propaganda for short-term political gain - and still be massively losing - shows that they're myopic opportunists, with no understanding that, even if they succeed in their immediate objective they'll be doomed because they'd have provided the RW with the power to destroy them.

(9,385 posts)If it blows before the convention we have a much better chance. If she had any sense or any regard for the country she would take herself out of the race, but an ego that size simply can't do it. The DNC is too corrupt to even acknowledge the problem. That leaves the other side... hopefully to bring it out while we still have a chance to regroup.
If it stays under cover until after she is nominated there will be a lot of trouble for us.
So yes, signs that it is coming to a head are hopeful. She isn't our firewall, she is our liability.

Also, this isn't over until everyone has voted. ...If the truth has a damaging effect on Hillary's candidacy.. So be it.

(17,320 posts)Every poll I've seen shows that Bernie does better against any and all Republican candidates that
does Hillary.
So in that light, I could say that the Democratic Party would be more likely to stay in the White House by nominating Bernie for their candidate.
I do recognize that the same poll show that Hillary would also defeat Trump but by a smaller margin.
I consider that the greater risk. Trump is a master of withering personal insults. And we should admit
that Hillary has a lot of baggage for Trump to aim at. I know she's a tough lady and been through
a lot. But, we have never met a genius, ignorant unscrupulous tyrant of the likes of Trump. He is
Genghis Khan on steroids. He has NO scruples. And if he is elected all of us are going to have to
figure out how we can extract him from office.
I'm also not certain that Bernie could hold him off. But, between Bernie and Hillary, I would select Bernie. He's a shrewd old bird who will not allow Trump to blast him away with meaningless insults.
He's already called Bernie the Jewish Socialist. I hope they don't get into any of his major
vulgar routines. I doubt that Bernie will be showing nude photos of his wife.
