We lost our Internet connection (darned rural crap I say) and I could not get back to thank you. I am so sorry to hear this. He was a good man as anyone can tell reading that thread.

I will send a message out for him tonight, one that involves fishing and beaches and Aloha.

On DU, he was a wise, kind and funny guy. In real world he was all that and infinitely more. Opihi was a fire captain in Honolulu and a top Democrat in every way. This was taken from a kayak near his family home.

I love the islands. We were actually looking into moving there once. He was a good soul. I am happy to hear about others who knew him. It is always interesting how you can feel the loss of someone you only knew on a board like this. Now even more since you have made him even more real. Thank you for this.

What a blast. Best time ever (without my wife). Party from the time I got off the plane from Detroit till the moment I had to go home.

It was paradise. The people, though, are truly kind and remarkable. All love and respect one another.

Opi threw a party for me and invited all the Puerto Rican musicians on Oahu to perform. People pulling up in yachts were dancing on the decks, I kid you not.

I really didn't want to leave. Opihimoimoi made get on the plane.

I am thinking he would have loved this day in the race, especially since Hawaii is voting as well.

Not sure he'd recognize DU these days, though. It would probably break his heart a bit.

((Opihimoimoi))

So glad you are still here with me, Octafish, old friend.
