Bernie Sanders CHALLENGES Hillary Clinton to DEBATE in New York

PRESS RELEASE

Sanders Challenges Clinton to Debate in New York

MARCH 27TH, 2016

BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday challenged Hillary Clinton to debate him in New York before the state’s April 19 primary election.

“I would hope very much that as we go into New York state, Secretary Clinton’s home state, that we will have a debate – New York City or Upstate, wherever – on the important issues facing New York and, in fact, the country,” Sanders told Chuck Todd in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Fresh off sweeping victories on Saturday in Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, Sanders was looking ahead to upcoming primaries in Wisconsin and New York.

He told The Associated Press it was “really absurd” that Clinton so far has refused to agree to a debate with him in her home state.

Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager, wrote a letter on Sunday to Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, underscoring the senator’s call for a New York debate.

“New York will play a critical role in determining the Democratic nominee. However, your campaign has consistently chosen to deny the people of New York the opportunity to see Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton debate in the Empire State,” Weaver wrote to Mook.

“It is difficult to understand your motivation,” Weaver added “Can you please explain why New York should not host the April debate? Is the Secretary concerned about debating before the people who twice elected her to the U.S. Senate? Perhaps there is some tactical advantage you are seeking by avoiding a debate in New York but I would remind you that Sen. Sanders agreed to debate the secretary in New Hampshire when he was well ahead in the polls.”

No, America is not getting bored with it. His rallies are growing in size and the Clintons are having to finagle more at the polling stations. Bernie Sanders is performing better or what is expected at the Primaries. Mostly better. That doesn't sound like an America "getting tired".

truth for many years. Clinton speaks in rhetoric and has changed her positions on most issues.

She tells the truth to Goldman-Sachs because they pay her well. She can't let us see those transcripts because it would reveal that she has been lying to the public forever. She did slip up the other day and told the truth about her admiration of the Reagans and their firm stand against AIDS and HIV. She quickly recognized that she told the truth and had to back it down.

I can't believe that Democrats would try to disparage Sen Sanders' messages about helping the 99% by calling them "talking points". He has real proposals to help those among us that are struggling and Clinton has nothing but rhetoric. What is she going to do about fracking, the TPP, college student debt, medical marijuana, the Patriot Act, indefinite detention, etc.? Status quo if we are lucky, make things worse for the 99% while more profits for the 1%.

Bernie shouts because he is adamant about helping those that need help and not the Wealthy 1% that some seem to bow before.

Bernie Sanders ideas started resonating and Hillary Clinton started saying that " she did that too". One of her latest claims was when she mentioned how she had raised all of this money and most of it had be raised from "small donations". (Hahaha, coincidentally, just like Bernie does and says). Of course the statement was fact checked and found to be untrue.

Truth to the Clintons do not matter when it comes to getting in the way to their ambitions.

before the Clintons left Arkansas. What are you talking about? You obviously haven't witnessed the famous history of the Clintons and the Hillary Clinton flip flops from 1st lady to Senator to Secretary of State. An amazing transformation from actually fighting for human rights to abusing human rights ...when you send small children back to a brutal war torn country. A country that you helped destabilise .

He didn't praise Castro on all of his politics. He talked about the improvements in education and medicine. Is that so horrible? Just because he said something positive doesn't mean he is in favor of everything that he does. This is just the kind of crap that people jump on to make Hillary Clinton look good and Bernie Sanders look bad. It is just too bad that people have to be so narrow minded.

I'm sure Chris is not the first whippersnapper to try that one. Chris asked him about normalizing relations with Cuba and how much Bernie liked Cuba. He said "Stop with the red-baiting". He pointed out that it was a dictatorship, it did not have freedom of the press, it was a very poor country, but they had done quite well on literacy (I think it's 100%) and they had excellent health care, and they sent doctors to many places that needed doctors badly.

So Bernie separated clearly what he liked and did not like about Cuba. Excellent shutdown.
