(13,390 posts)The belief that Hillary has a better chance of winning is not about education. It's about an idea that has been promoted for so long that it has basically become conventional wisdom. Unfortunately, the experience and toughness angles resonate with a lot of voters and reinforces the belief that she is the strongest candidate.
It is completely legitimate to be informed and let some issues slide in order to make sure we get a Dem in the WH again. You talking about my peers, and I have learned that for many, there is a deep fear of a republican getting elected.

I know, we can also call it a poverty restriction, that way we can ensure it primarily targets Minorities as well!
EXTREME
Really, what exactly is your point?
You think it might be due to "least informed" voters. Personally, I'm betting it's voters who need assistance the most being less willing to take a chance on promises that sound too good to be true, and with the upcoming 115th, and unless my fellow progressives and liberals start getting things in the works the 116th congress are both looking like continued walls of opposition for either Bernie or Hillary's more progressive agenda items.
IMO.. Bernie is a lottery ticket. Hillary is a stable investment.

(2,074 posts)So poverty = ignorant, eh?
And since a large proportion of the Democratic electorate in those states are African American, are you saying that African Americans are ignorant?
ignorant is not a bad thing or persons fault. I am ignorant on how to perform a heart transplant. Does that mean I am stupid or not smart? Not really I do have a degree in Nuclear Power Plant Operations and another in Computer Sci. The reason poverty effects people is that in today's world the internet is the only forum of media that you do not have a corporation controlling the message. Just look at MSM and there Trump worship. So people in poverty do not get all information that they need.

(2,074 posts)You are assuming that Hillary's voters in those states are ignorant based on the assumption that they're all poor (debatable in itself) and have no internet access (also debatable), and you are assuming that internet access means lack of ignorance (certainly debatable). Plenty of ignorant people on the internet. Plenty of thoughtful and informed people who don't spend any or much time on the internet.

(20,176 posts)There's no question that the GOP will win all of those states except DC (which isn't a state! DC Statehood now!!) and the GOP is unquestionably-worse for their economic interests, especially if Trump is the GOP nominee. There's equally no question that Hillary will be worse for their economic interests than Sanders and only about a half-measure better than Trump...and yet Hillary has won the 7 out of 10 that have voted already in the Democratic primaries.
Clearly, as progressives, we're failing to connect with these voters. Maybe we need to ask why...but I suspect it's because we have muddy messaging because we refuse to pull out the pitchforks and torches to run fake Democrats like Hillary out.

(30,481 posts)Then again, by your own metric, Clinton is the most informed politician running on our side. Well done.
So you think your candidate would be doing better if we instituted a poll tax?

(1,198 posts)In Texas, there are tons of self-identified "pro life" Democrats. In Oklahoma, so called "pro life" Democrats can't win a primary.

(1,377 posts)As I said above saying someone is ignorant is not same as saying the are stupid. Can you do a heart transplant? If not you are ignorant on the steps needed to perform that operation. People in poverty have much less access to internet and use Cable TV for there new source. And we know how the MSM tells the truth.

(1,377 posts)You for example are ignorant on the difference between ignorant and stupid, that does not mean you have a lower IQ than me. Ben Carson is a Brain Surgeon but that man is Highly ignorant on most other things.

(127,259 posts)It is consistent with Skinner's statement that about 85% of the people who are on DU favor Sanders. I suspect that the poll would show even more no votes if it appeared on the Cave or Freeperville.

(30,514 posts)She has won the votes of more registered Democrats than Sanders. She has also won more votes than him from AA, Hispanics and other minorities. If she also has won more votes from lower income people, then that's a plus for her. The Democratic party is the party of the working class.
Your attempt to portray the voters on that list of states as ignorant because they are poor goes against what Democrats stand for, that assumption is condescending and elitist. Just because people are poor doesn't mean that they are ill informed.
For shame....
