EXCLUSIVE: Video shows Hillary Clinton boarding private jet just hours after launching global-warming push and she's using a FRENCH aircraft that burns 347 gallons of fuel every hour!Just hours after Hillary Clinton unveiled her presidential campaign's push to solve global warming through an aggressive carbon-cutting plan, she sauntered up the steps of a 19-seat private jet in Des Moines, Iowa.
The aircraft, a Dassault model Falcon 900B, burns 347 gallons of fuel per hour. And like all Dassault business jets, Hillary's ride was made in France.
The Trump-esque transportation costs $5,850 per hour to rent, according to the website of Executive Fliteways, the company that owns it.
And she has used the same plane before, including on at least one trip for speeches that brought her $500,000 in fees.

(120,001 posts)I don't think they would allow him to keep flying commercial in coach (or even first class) and I really doubt that they'd want him to hitchhike. Griping about any candidate's travel arrangements is just stupid. If either of them chartered a 747 there would be cause for complaint but not an ordinary business jet.

(120,001 posts)The fuel burn for the aircraft is about average for a jet that size. A hot air balloon or a glider isn't very practical.

(120,001 posts)and would be extremely inconvenient for the other passengers and the airline; in fact, I don't know if the Secret Service would even allow it. I don't begrudge either candidate for chartering an airplane because as long as we expect candidates to campaign in person there isn't any other way for them to do it.

(6,342 posts)If you are someone who wants to preach about the environment and carbon footprints, then you shouldn't be afraid to evaluate your own footprint.
I'm not talking about Gore or Hillary on private jets. I'm talking about their personal life and their personal footprint. Let's forget the private jets and look at their houses.
I had a professor in college that was all big on this environment thing. She was big on global warming and permaculture and all that stuff. I respected her for that and her opinions because she lived by example. She lived "off the grid" so to speak. What I don't respect is Al Gore living in a mansion with a power bill in the several thousands of dollars and then him preaching to me and other poor and middle class folks that we need to "cut back." Fuck that.

(147,300 posts)that matches commercial flights. They all use private jets when necessary. Once they have Secret Service protection, there really is no choice.
Your criticism is a criticism of what is standard for presidential candidates during primary and general election campaign season.
I can see that you're concerned, but now that you have the correct information, I hope that satisfies your concerns. Truly.

(10,562 posts)This is like when Hannity and the other talking heads make fun of the global warming conferences that happen to coincide with a blizzard, or Al Gore driving to one in an SUV.
Point. Missed.

(10,749 posts)Sure, it's fun to see Bernie flying coach. But the reality is that these candidates - all of them - have to get from point a to point b pretty quickly. Sometimes that involves private aircraft.
Airplane travel is a reality. It sucks, but when business or personal needs demand, you gotta take a plane. Even candidates. So let's skip the sanctimony, on all sides. Well, except for Trump, of course, who looks like he is going to make this the first presidential campaign in American history to show a profit, thanks to his accountants.

FIfteen seconds of video shot just after 12:00 noon, local time, shows Clinton walking up the plane's stairs while an aide hodls a giant black umbrella over her head to sheld her from falling rain.
'Despite her campaigns best efforts to rebrand her as a down-to-earth fighter for "everyday Americans," Hillary Clintons jet-setting ways are just further confirmation that shes out of touch with the American people,' the group's communications driector Jeff Bechdel told DailyMail.com.".......

America Rising? Why in the name of God are you on Democratic Underground, using material from a right-wing political action committee that was founded by Matt Rhoades, (Mitt Romney's campaign manager), to smear a Democratic presidential candidate?

Candidates have to get from place to place. Necessary evil. She's not using a hot air balloon to go from state to state and neither is Bernie

(60,590 posts)Substitute "Al Gore" for "Hillary Clinton", change the dateline, and this post would be right at home at Breitbart.com.
Come to think of it, I'd be willing to bet that James Hansen and Kevin Trenberth and Michael Mann and Jason Box have traveled by plane, perhaps more than once. Some have even traveled by helicopter - even MORE wasteful!
Guess that's enough to discredit them and their efforts too, right?
