2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDemocrats don't seem to care about Clinton's email server issue
This is a very useful test for figuring out who's an actual Democrat and who's nothttps://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/03/04/democrats-simply-dont-seem-to-care-about-hillary-clintons-email-server-issue/
Of those four things, the thing that was least concerning to people was the email server even when you include the people who volunteered that they were worried about both of a candidate's issues.
And this was in a poll in which Sanders held a national lead.
...
Notice what we're not saying, by the way. We are not saying 1) that no one cares about the issue, and 2) that Republicans don't care about the issue. It's just simply not the case that the email issue is motivating a lot of Democrats and it is almost certainly not the case that it's risking Clinton's push to her party's nomination.

There are a lot of Democrats who have policy concerns with Clinton.
AgerolanAmerican
(1,000 posts)using that type of chart implies that 66% of Democrats have no reservations about Clinton, which isn't within a light year of true. They simply don't have one of those two specific reservations.

(13,685 posts)But the ones who see the big picture are very concerned that what H has done will do her great harm in the election.
Besides the lousy policies of H, there is her power mongering and the sense that she can do whatever she wants and to hell with anybody questioning her.
Kissinger is her good friend and there out to be a law against that, don't you think?

I haven't seen a single genuinely progressive person say that Clinton should be indicted over this.

(1,235 posts)I assume that they are probably real Republicans lurking around trying to stir up shit.
My comment was directed at Hillary supporters who all claim to be Democratic party members and come out with Republican arguments against progressive taxes, single payer health insurance, a modern education system that extends the shared common public system to levels that make sense for the 21st century, etc.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)of the tax system.
Single-payer isn't something Sanders is even promising he'll deliver. It's more of a goal than a plan.
Sanders's plan on public college wouldn't result in everyone being able to attend college for free. It wouldn't even apply in a lot of states if they opted out.

(1,235 posts)raise taxes on her donor class who are allergic to taxes? I'll trust that as soon as I see what she promised in her speeches to Wall St.
Sanders single-payer is no more simply a 'goal' than is Hillary's fix-up of ACA. And at least there's a chance Sanders will TRY to get reach his goal. Hillary, the no-we-can't candidate will always find a 'practical' reason to give up.
Hillary's 'loan payback/forgiveness' plan will still leave people with horrendous debt, which they can refinance for just about ever, then when they finally get to the debt forgiveness phase it likely leaves them with a huge tax bill (forgiveness is taxable and due on forgiveness) and will now likely be another loan at going bank rates.
And of course Hillary's education plan still tilts toward the well to do.

(68,868 posts)"It would have had 8 or 10 votes and that's it," he said, addressing a topic central in the minds of many who the bloggers and left wing talk show hosts gathered for the 4th annual Senate Democratic Progressive Media Summit in Washington reach everyday.
Sanders is among the few in the Senate not afraid to say he supports government-run, universal health care. But his calls for such a program have gone unanswered, much to the chagrin of progressives who still feel it is the best way to solve the nation's health care crisis.
Sanders said it was still possible for single-payer to come to the U.S. eventually -- but he said the road will not begin in Washington. If a state like California or Vermont ever instituted a single-payer system on its own, Sanders said, it would eventually lead to national adoption of universal coverage.

(1,235 posts)yeah, he was talking about 2010, when the 'change we can believe it', 'fierce urgency of now', 'progressive' president sabotaged public option (let alone single payer) right out of the gate.
Of course it didn't have a chance ... nothing 'stands a chance' is you don't even bother to attempt it.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)there were never 60 votes for the public option in the Senate.
Remember that they needed the votes of:
Joe Lieberman
Kent Conrad
Max Baucus
Blanche Lincoln
Mary Landrieu
Ben Nelson
and others for the public option.

(10,650 posts)Most Democrats probably only know that the right wing republicans have made a big deal out of it with really nothing much to show for it. They lump it in with Benghazi as the usual right wing nonsense.
Unfortunately though, those Democrats do not know the FBI is investigating aspects of the emails. This is serious and a cause for concern. It indicates at the very least that there is preliminary evidence that a crime or crimes have been committed. If an indictment is sought, things will change in a hurry.
Of course the Hillary fanatics know about this, but they simply dismiss it as they do any flaw in their anointed one.

There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about Clinton's candidacy. The stupid email thing isn't one of them.
