Dem mistake keeps Sanders off DC ballot
By Rebecca Savransky
Sen. Bernie Sanders's name is not yet on the presidential ballot in D.C., due to a registration error by the local Democratic Party, NBC4 News reported Wednesday.
The D.C. Democratic Party was required file to the D.C. Board of Elections by March 16, but submitted the registration paperwork for Sanders a day late.
Both Sanders and front-runner Hillary Clinton submitted their registration fees of $2,500 on time.
NBC4 News reported that a voter in D.C. filed a challenge against the Vermont senator's registration, which will be heard in April.
To fix the issue, the D.C. Council could have an emergency vote if necessary, D.C. Democratic Party Chairwoman Anita Bonds told NBC.
The Democratic primary is on June 14.

(7,318 posts)There is still time for someone to legally challenge Clinton's appearance on the ballot. Let's see how fast this problem gets fixed if she is challenged. Anyone living in D.C. interested in filing a challenge against her campaign?

(6,282 posts)There is a reason Politico reported that the DNC backed down after the first conference call with the judge assigned to the case. It wasn't debbie being fickle.

(68,868 posts)"Yes, I apologize," Sanders said, when asked by the moderator if Clinton deserves an apology.
It was Sanders' first comment on the data breach.
"I want to apologize to my supporters," he continued. "This is not the type of campaign that we run."

(39,961 posts)that the Sanders Campaign was the one doing the sabotaging. It's fascinating how many Sanders donors are the ones getting their votes flipped.
It is human nature to be tempted that if the opposition is having a lot of problems and it benefits the politician you support to want to just laugh it off and say "my candidate is running a better campaign, yours just sucks".
Arizona has already come right out and admitted there was election fraud.
There are plenty of suspicious examples that can be pointed to around the country. This isn't simply my team vs. your team - this is our democracy.

(6,282 posts)The 8 A.M. campaign call started confused and frightened, but Devine and Longabaugh cut everyone off. What they should do, they said, was fight. They wanted to sue. In a smaller follow-up callDevine and Longabaugh sitting next to each other on a plane about to leave Reagan National for Burlington, Weaver in the campaign office, Sanders and his wife at their homethey agreed.

While Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook and press secretary Brian Fallon were agitating about their claims of deeply damaging high crimes out of Vermont in a call with reporters, with Sanders state staffers nervously listening in, the lawyers from the campaigns and the DNC were on the phone with the judge. The judge left Sanders team with the distinct impression that she was going to rule for them, and within hours, the Clinton campaign sent a turnaround statement urging the DNC to back down. The DNC reversed itself and let the Sanders campaign back into the database late that night.

Those paragraphs tell a fascinating story, a behind the scenes look at how the DNC operates.

(12,689 posts)DC is hardly going to be a Sanders stronghold and the delegate count isn't enough to really effect the primary, so why would someone even bother to do this on purpose? It's a mistake and nothing more.

(171,090 posts)thing, for both candidates? I imagine that wouldn't have been your reaction had the situation been reversed, but either way, it seems a bit amateurish to me, or worse. DC can't get two names right?
