http://www.nbc26.com/news/national/sanders-says-if-he-wins-new-york-hell-win-white-houseThe Democratic presidential candidate says voter turnout in April 19's primary could affect the trajectory of his campaign. The Empire State has 247 delegates up for grabs, the second largest haul in the primary season.
Sanders was joined at the rally Thursday night in the Bronx by actress Rosario Dawson, director Spike Lee and singer Residente. They spoke of Bernie's support for women and for Puerto Rico in its debt crisis.
Sanders drew on his experience growing up in Brooklyn. He reiterated his positions on fighting income inequality, creating a single-payer healthcare system and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
You know what to do New York. Give Clinton Hell!

from both camps may show that Bernie is doing well?
I don't think Bernie would make such a bold statement if things weren't looking good for him in NY.
Would certainly explain Clinton's mood swings and finger wagging.

(3,160 posts)Bernie always understates. When I heard that line during his speech a shiver went through my body. This is getting REAL.

(3,017 posts)I don't think his internal polling is telling him (yet) that he is ahead in New York, but before he said this I was thinking that based on the math Bernie pretty much has to win New York to end up with more pledged delegates for Hillary. New York and the other 4 closed primaries on April 26 are going to be a huge challenge for Bernie.

(11,966 posts)and we know there were many places that ran out of ballots, had long lines and in wheaton they refused to register new voters because there were so many of them
voter suppression definitely helped hc win here (by the skin of her teeth)

(5,400 posts)People out here on Long Island are only partially aware of the upcoming primary date. I've been doing some canvassing and when appropriate I ask for that word to be spread. April 19, vote!

(38 posts)His advisor Tad Devine was on MSNBC tonight explaining how when Bernie becomes President, Paul Ryan will no longer be Speaker of the House because of all the.... what party? not Dems because Bernie has done diddly squat to help down ticket Dems... new Congresspeople who will be Bernie acolytes.
Where are they going to come from? How downright mysterious.

NY has 247 delegates, meaning that each 1% of the vote is roughly 2-1/2 delegates; so a 51/49 would be twice that - about 5.
A 6 point spread, that is - A win or a loss by 12% (56/44) changes the total by 29. If Bernie is on the losing end by that much of a margin (that's doubtful) it's still not the end. A win on the other hand . . .

(8,976 posts)...just a small win keeps thing going. NY could completely change the race but even a small win allows all of America to continue toward a choice.
