My 8 year old son

Always makes me proud but made me especially proud a few moments ago. In the car on the way to soccer practice we were talking about school today and he told me that he thinks that president Obama will win. I asked him why he thought that and he said that he and a few friends in his class voted for him in class today. So of course I had to dig a little deeper and asked him why he voted for Obama. His response, with a big smile on his face, said that Obama is not a big liar like Mitt Romney- I was pretty stunned on has smart he is since I so not discuss politics with my little ones.

With that said, I'm even more perplexed. How come an 8 year old boy can figure this out when many adults can't.

Because the 8 year old boy has had an upbringing that has taught him to think for himself. Even if you haven't discussed politics with him, somewhere in his upbringing, he's been exposed to critical thinking and is using that critical thinking to make a logical choice.

Thanks for raising him right!

My 8 year old said that 30% of his class voted for Obama and the rest for Romney. But, he said he was glad he was apart of the smart 30%! LOL

Doesn't surprise me though...lots of Repubs around here and a very 'uppity' neighborhood and school.

First of all, like one said in a post above, I do teach my children to think for themselves, solve problems using critical thinking ( as much as you can get out of an 8 year old and twelve year old). But with that said, I had a nagging suspicion that my son heard this from somebody. I had to ask- well, apparently he was ease dropping on my wife and me while we were driving in the car a few days ago.

It shows you how easily a child can be swayed. I'm just happy that he was swayed by me. He is a democrat in the making.
