2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe extended two minute hate for Bernie Sanders on CNN is stunning
I don't know if I've ever seen a candidate's victory being met with such extended negative riffs. From the reporter in Wyoming to the panel of experts, it's been a celebration of Hillary Clinton winning the nomination. I recognize the math is tough, but Sanders has put together a fairly impressive streak of victories and it's not out of the question he could continue his momentum in upcoming contests. Little indication of this. Instead we get a Clinton spin on today's interview and a suggestion this weekend's NY Times article was a post mortem on the Sanders campaign. It's like even a minimal pretense at objectivity has been abandoned.

(5,400 posts)If they weren't worried they'd be nurturing interest in the Sanders campaign. This kind of coverage costs little, but generates a lot of income.
Telling viewers there's nothing to see here? That's not the CNN we know and ... know.

Power is never relinquished without a tremendous fight.
Get ready for massive ugliness on this forum, as well. I ran into it earlier today.

Aren't they silly with this subway business? Petty is as petty does.

(5,562 posts)They announce:
Bernie Sanders just won Wisconsin. But he won't ever get the delegates to win.
Then they go on:
Hillary Hillary Trump Trump Cruz Trump Trump Hillary. Cruz.
It looks like Hillary may be going against Cruz in the general.
Hillary Hillary Trump Trump Cruz Trump Trump Hillary. Trump
They want to people to think "I really like Bernie but he won't ever get the delegates to win. So I may just as well stay home and hand the nomination to Hillary."
But the good news is that it isn't working. Its a good thing people aren't into cable tv so much anymore, it kind of wrecks their game plan.

(9,253 posts)as much better prepared to win the general election. No evidence given to support the assertion and no acknowledgement of the polls which almost always show Sanders doing much better against the Republican opposition than Clinton.
All of this followed by a chorus of math math despite Sanders' momentum, the closing in New York, and the evidence the more voters learn about Sanders, the better he does. All of which opens a clear possibility that a Clinton loss in New York could lead to a collapse of her campaign that could let Sanders go ahead in pledged delegates by the convention. And while the Cllinton Cliff Notes version of the Daily News interview is fair game, no criticsm of Clinton, whether it's her FBI investigation, the tangled web of Clinton Foundation finances, the unknown dangers of Bill's hanging out on the Lolita Express, or Hillary's disastrous foreign policy decisions is apparently allowed.
