In order to win the general election

Hillary woud need to capture 100% of voters who identify as democrats (32%) plus 50% of all Independents (39%) to net 51.5% of the popular vote...except the chart I quoted shows 23% identify as republicans-but 6% show up as not identified in ANY group. And they would have to break better than 75% for Hillary to break 50%...

I'd say most elected politicians these days are out of touch with a number of things these days.
In both parties.
It's why you're seeing the rise of Sanders and Trump in the first place.

Endorsements from policians for other politicians carry what importance exactly?

I couldn't care less who they hitch their wagons to.
