Of course they want more ships because it means more jobs for their local economy. This is why Romney harped on the ships, despite knowing we need less ships now more than ever because our enemies will not be fighting us in the ocean.

Romney trying to play up the military vote...

VA is by no means a lock.... Obama needs to hope his strength in DC area offsets the more conservative areas of the state...

Same issue with the military cuts. But it is a small percentage of people that work there and won't affect the voting of the overall state. Of course, CT is a very blue state unlike VA. But I wonder how much of an impact would have on voters there. By the way, RCP has VA tied so it is pretty much a toss up at this point.

--Wisconsin--!!

It's true that the US navy has a huge presence in SE VA, but the economics of naval shipping are spread over a large area.

I do a lot of driving around Virginia, mostly northern and out to Winchester, and I've seen way too many Romney signs. It's not surprising in Faquier or Clarke county but it is a bit surprising in Fairfax and Prince William. Alexandria and Arlington, as always, seem to lean Obama.

It may not mean shit, but it worries me.

This is the shit they do all the time - shifting to politics vs policy to suit their immediate need.

Same assholes are screaming about the debt while Romney is promising the world to everyone he can scream at.

the POINT stands, and anyone with a fricken brain gets it.

The world and our military has changed, and we don't need 300 fricken boats.

Tell the god darn truth, and tell it hard.

That is what the President did.

People can handle getting it square.

and war horses have nothing to do with dressage horses. Why would rich horsepeople take any offense at the idea of horses no longer being involved in war?

16. B.S. Obama made the comment because what Romney said about the navy was ignorant.

The number of ships in 1916 is not relevant to a discussion of the 2012 U.S. Navy and the Obama was the perfect(and non rehearsed, I believe) response to such ignorance.

I am positive Obama has not given up on Virginia nor should he. Joe S. doesn't know what he is talking about.
