(3,089 posts)Looks like the Bishop took it upon himself to speak for the President and she didn't like it.

(15,445 posts)implies that he'll be meeting with the Pope he's SO in sync with.
Then look up the video clip of his visit to the View where he replies "Yup" when asked if he's going to see the Pope.
Just another forked-tongue pol. How disappointing. LOL!

beedle
(1,235 posts)are you blaming Bernie for a BBC headline now?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Obviously not blaming Bernie for the poor quality article. People just need to be aware that the BBC has their facts wrong.
beedle
(1,235 posts)'Clinton questions whether Bernie is qualified to be president' story?
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Although that whole back and forth was pretty silly.
beedle
(1,235 posts)I really don't care who calls who 'unqualified' ... they both are until they can prove they can win the Primaries, which is a one of the main 'qualifications'
oberliner
(58,724 posts)That seems to be what some news outlets are after.
Leak a report that Hillary's campaign is going to try to show that Bernie is not qualified.
Ask Hillary a bunch of times if Bernie is qualified - she hems and haws.
Then tell Bernie that Hillary said she wasn't qualified - he responds somewhat in kind.
And round and round it goes.
KingFlorez
(12,689 posts)That is the part of this story that you all are ignoring.
revbones
(3,660 posts)And even if he did, Clinton was able to request invites and has to various places as well.
It also doesn't change the Pope declining her invitation in Sep 2015 either.
And none of this fake controversy diminishes that Bernie is going to speak there, or counters any of Hillary's moral failings.
KingFlorez
(12,689 posts)revbones
(3,660 posts)It doesn't prove it - AND her timeline was disproven by the actual invitation. Her credibility is somewhat shot on this byt those facts, and her little attacks in the comments she made.
KingFlorez
(12,689 posts)When Sanders walks it back like it did the unqualified comment, it will shut everyone up. That's all I'll say.

Edited to add
We are interested in having him because we have two presidents coming from Latin America, I thought it would be good to have an authoritative voice from North America, Sanchez Sorondo said. Asked when he when the invitation was extended, he said, Quite some time ago.

(3,660 posts)The Chancellor said "We are interested in having him because we have two presidents coming from Latin America, I thought it would be good to have an authoritative voice from North America".
Since he mentioned the 2 presidents that are already on the schedule, I'm guessing it was due to it not being publicly released yet. Otherwise, someone might have seen it on the schedule and ruined any announcement. This is common event planning.
salinsky
(1,065 posts)... another poster recently posted a link to the event's programme.
Bernie is listed as an "other participant" and is not listed as a speaker in the full schedule.
http://www.pass.va/content/dam/scienzesociali/booklet/centesimus_annus.pdf
Maybe he can speak during one of the coffee breaks?
revbones
(3,660 posts)My assumption is that "participant" is part of typical event planning, and the information wasn't fully released until today. Things will get updated.
It would be ridiculous to think he would stop campaigning for 2 full days to just go and hang out in some conference. We don't know the definition of "participant" yet, and the other names above are listed with pictures and are probably already scheduled and have a topic picked out.
Most likely, he'll get some time but have to have a specific topic picked out, etc... to get on the schedule.
I could be wrong on that, but when I run events, I list the instructors well before I post the schedule and speaking topics, then as they come in I update the public materials. It just makes sense though since both groups are "participants"

(12,689 posts)We'll see how this plays out...
